HELP IM GETTIN SLOW DOWNLOADS!

Hi im sorta new to the torrent thing i like ice hockey an i wanted to download an ice hockey torrent. an i am currently downloadin 1 an its healty too. Problem is that im only gettin like a max of like 40-50kbs an i have a 700k modem but sureley i should be downloading faster yea?. What i would like somone to do is give a step by step of how to speed the download up i am not sure about port fowarding an router an all so dont go into to technical stuff ill prob understand the basics lol. email removed i hope some 1 could like explain it. O by the way it took like a day to download a file that was 856mb lol thats just gay lol it shouldnt take that long. Can some 1 tell me the speed i should be getting. THANK YOU TO ANY 1 HU HELPS AN ITS A BIT LATE, BUT HAPPY NEW YEAR TO U ALL.:)
