Im plannin on buildin a gaming machine, but i gotta know sumthin, instead of buyin a new hard drive, can i just use this one? is it possible to just plug this one up to it n use it?.. cuz im sayin, mine is 160GB, thats aight for now, if i could i'd use this one it til i get me the 250GB SATA i want.

If it still works you can use it. Sata is faster data rate but what you have will work fine. Drive RPM's are probably more important if you want a gaming rig so maybe buy the fastest (about 10,000 RPM at the moment methinks) you can when it is time to buy.

yeah my 160GB works, its 7200RPM... so is the SATA i want, but about them 10,000RPMs idk... they cost alot, ive seen one once, it was like 74GB and it costed alot im like waaaat? then i read it said 10,000... u know any website that sells em for a fair price, and oh yeah.. about the cache...i dont even know wat that word means, is it better when it has a higher or lower number cache?..well thanx for the post, im hopin to see a reply soon.. i have to hurry n decide wat i want on the pc ima build..

if what your planning is keeping your windows installation on the hard drive than that wont work. the hard drive will work in the machine but you wont be able to boot from it until you reinstall windows

My 74gig Raptor kicks serious ass! Well worth it, if you want a serious gaming machine. If you hook up 2, then you will get quite a leap in an already fast machine!

u kno any website where i can get one of them 10,000RPMs for cheap?.. and another thing, does it depend on ur mother board, to as how many HDDs u can put on ur computer? or does the motherboard have nuttin to do with it, im soon to own a ASUS A8N-SLI premium ATX AMD Mobo and im wonderin if i can put up to 3 HDDs on it

that mobo is one mean mother...board u should be albe to run 3 hdd on that no problem as this has 4 x sata2/300 and 4 x sata/150 so best of both worlds lol, if u have ne other questions that have a look at this the manufacters website for the same mobo http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=539&l1=3&l2=...

well.. i got another question, im thinkin if i should open up another thread but i like havin only 2 threads open, that way im not lost... i dont understand the whole RAID thing, i dont even know wat raid means... see the thing is that i dont understand big words cuz its too complex for my vocabulary, so can sumbody explainificate the whole raid topic for me lol

Riad is basically where you have to drives and the system see's it as one big whole drive. So then data is read or wrote [striped] across the two drives. So since ya using two drives at once then you system would speed up quite a bit. Google for it. There is a couple different raid set up's.:>

No there is no such thing as a 8x pci x card. The only card is 8x agp which is totally different from pci x.:>
