Hey, I know how it says im a noob, but dont worry i read the forums like the quick links one and the media guide so I wont be asking any stupid questions like that.

Actually one of the questions I want to ask was inspired by the quick links thread, because it confused me.

It's the part that says:
3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or
HD Advance: http://www.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_how-to-use.htm

I didnt get it because I didn't understand if I need all that stuff, or I could just use Swap Magic v 3.6 with a slide key.

You only need one of those methods to play your back-ups and imports, however each do have their own pro's and con's.

If you wish you can just get Swap Magic v3.6 with some type of eject sensor fooling device (IE: Slide Card, Flip Top, Slim Tools, etc). Though, the slide card\key doesn't work with the V12 PS2's and up since it doesn't have a tray that slides out. I'm sure the local guru's can fill you in further if needed. =D

Thanks for responding, and wont have a problem because I have an older version which slides out.

Now I have another question which may be able to help a lot of people who want to play snes or n64 and other games on their ps2, if my assumption is correct.

On one of the swap magic websites it says that it has a new funtion called a program loader, which can boot your programs off your usb flash drive. So if you put emulators such as project 64 on your usb and plug into your ps2 and load swap magic, than does that mean you can play n64 games on your ps2.

And thanks again for your response.

Emulation using v3.6's new program loader I'm kinda hazy about. So I'm gonna refer you to a similar question answered by Tokijin, which you can look into while we you wait for a better answer.

PS2nfo does have a list of all the current PS2 Emulators, and on the list I didn't see any for N64 yet. Hope that helps.

Yea I saw that question before, which made me think about it, because the way I thought about it was that it allows your ps2 to do the same thing a computer does, so you can use the N64 emulator from the computer on the ps2. But I'll try this out first since im going to get the swap magic anyway because for me it's the best deal and then I'll let everyone know if it works like that.
