I have the PS2 slim line model number SCPH-75003 i think this is version 14 and i have put the magic keys 2 in and start up with swap magic 3.6 but any backup game i put after swap magic it just says it is not a valid ps2 disk. I have checked and there and no dummy files on the disks and i have tried following different guides on here to back them up including dvd decrypter and still get the problem i have tried a ps1 backup i know works with my old ps1 and this gets the same problem (but i am not sure if i can play ps1 backups anyway) could it be that i can't play backups with this box i have tried DVD+R and DVD+RW media and get the same problem i don't have any -R media to try though. Has any one got any suggestions any help will be appreciated.

r u using the swap magic dvd disc? becoz there are two discs a cd one and dvd one. cd one is for backing up ps1 and cd-based ps2 games. dvd disc is for dvd-based ps2 games.

also have have used the slide tool to pull the tray back?

the media is very important, u shud use only high quality media such as verbatims, taiyo yuden and maxells. visit this thread for info http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240341

next thing is stay away from RW discs, they are no good. try to use -R discs. if u have +R then booktype them. here is a link where there is info on booktyping http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/275350

remember also to burn them at half speed of discs say 8x then 4x, if it is 4x disc then 2x.

also instead of pressing x at startup try pressing [] (square) for special boot.

Thanks for the reply i am using the correct swap magic disk i have tried the dvd one for the dvd roms and i have also tried the cd one for a ps1 cd game i have and neither worked the media i am using is the verbatims DVD+R. From what i have read the i can;t use the slide tool with this model. I have used the magic keys 2 tools. I have tried booktyping them and i have burnt them at half speed 4x. I have tried the normal boot and the special boot on all different modes normal PAL and NTSC. Any other ideas?

Try booktyping them. Verb's are quality media, it's not likely the media is the problem. What games are you trying to burn?

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

I have set the book typing to automatic in Nero 7 which i have read will automatically write it as a DVD-R. Is this right or do i need to change it from automatic to dvd-rom. I have tried a few games King Kong, NFSMW and the Warriors.

I believe Nero automatically booktypes to DVD-ROM. You can change it to DVD-ROM if you wish, it doesn't really matter. Either should be fine. Good Luck.

@limbr01

Nero will NOT book type any DVD-R into DVD-ROM, it will automatically book type any DVD+R, DVD+R DL and DVD+RW to DVD+ROM only. However, that is.. if your burner is capable fo book typing and or supported by "bitsettings".

For more info on how to book type via Nero or DVD Decrypter, go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/

Hey Alky. I'm going to "acquire" a copy of Nero 7 and see if I can successfully use your avi2DVD tutorial with NV4. It's got pictures, so I think I can do it lol. I've got Season 2 of Deadwood in AVI format on my Hard drive, so it's high time to convert it to DVD. Off topic, just passing the time. Peace.

hi.i have purchased ps2 slim scph-75004 about a month ago and bought the swap magic 3.6
unfortunately the slimm tools didn't work for me (cause there's a silly protection for the #3 tool witch i removed by opening my console).now i'm not using the tools (except the second tool for the brake).i simply stuck a sticky plastic(u can stick anything as long as the swithes are stuck inside) on each switch inside the console(front switch and back switch)so that it doesn' know i'm opening the case.i've backed up a number of games including fifa06pal,nba06pal,mercenaries using the rebuild method and until now everything works fine!i' ve lost the guarantee but who cares anyway?plus my case closes now.the only issue is that i don't know if there's a laser protection in the 75004 version.(i mean something like laserfix so that my lens won't be overpowered...)
for everyone who has problem with the slim tools with this version, there is a german site withc sells new tools-google search it-
hip-hip-hurrayyyy!!
greetings

soutzouk you said you are using sticky plastics instead of the tools, I need to use something for the sensor in the upper left corner. The slim kit tool won't fit even though my ps2 is v12. What can I use instead? Please help.

Try the tape and tissue mod.

7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
A. With Slim PS2 v.12-14
Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag...
Magickeys (also referred to as slide tool, slim tool or, magic switch): http://magickeys.net/
or tape and tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).
Pics (Thanks to PSPness): http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm
my tape and more tape

Just about the same, just a change on Censor 'A' and Censor 'B'

Censor B - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/572/dsc010703xc.jpg
keep the top closed, while you tape down the disk stopper, using a few layers of duct tape
Fur
Censor A - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4342/dsc010698we.jpg
use tiny strips of duct tape to patch over the tiny censor. I used a screwdriver to help put on the tape.

yeah...tokijin is right...if you want to keep your guarantee though, try http://www.swapmagic3.com/.and search for the new version tools.(tool d is the new one that should replace tool c i think).if u don't,then try whatever comforts you best. nevertheless, it's only a plastic switch that just needs to be pressed at all times:):)

Any idea why the piece C won't fit, it only goes halfway down. My ps2 is v12 or SCPH 700012. By the way how do I open this version of the ps2, it does have any holes on the bottom to use the screwdriver.
