SONY DRU720A won't recognize DVD+R blanks

I have this burner on my system.. running XP, I can use RW DVDs but not the R+ type. It doesn't recognize it as valid media. However, when I use the sony tool to test the drive, it does in fact write to a DVD +R. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

what type if media r u using? i have this drive and i use sony +r (mij) and verabtim +r is pretty much all i use..

memorex and an inexpensive brand called SPIN-X neither is recognized..

your choice of poor quality discs might be the issue here...along with the suggestion that you should update your firmware to see if that helps your drive to recognize the discs you are currently using...

Hi.... I was hoping it wasn't the disks.. I am going to go out today and buy some better quality ones. I already updated the firmware. Thanks for the assist

Well, my choice of poor quality disks was not the issue, as I bought Sony's last nite and the drive doesn't recognize SONY +R DVD's either. It still only recognizes the RW DVD's.
