any patches or anything out on the net that will play ntsc backups in colour rather then black and white

Yes, use the search function and you will find loads of threads about this subject... but if you have swap magic 3 or above, you might be able to just change the video mode settings on the load program screen to NTSC to get it to work.

if you are using Swap Magic, you can set the video mode, that
is set to normal by default, to match the game.
Like if you have a PAL PS2, and are playing an NTSC game,
set the video mode to NTSC before you load the game.
If that doesn't work then get a patching program.
