My downloads with azureus used to hit 100 kB plus easily, now, one day, it just all decided to drop under 20. I mean 20, as in, the total I can download with azureus is 20. No options were changed and I still download 150 kB on http, but the combined total I can d/l using azureus is 20 kB. Any hints as to why this could've suddenly happend?...
Oh yeah, no router. Direct Cable connection... And the same thing happend to limewire...
Pretty much anything that is like p2p, slowed down from one day to the next...

could be several things
you gone over your download limit ?
you using a firewall (newly installed )?
what port numbers you using ? default or have you changed them ?
what connection speed you got ?
OS (operating software ?

I have the same problem as you Akazecks and its driving me round the bend. A few weeks ago i realised that my download speeds using Azureus 2.3.0.6 have considerably dropped to a state where all my downloads are going to take weeks to download on my 1MB connection!
I've changed the default Azureus port and opened it up on my McAfee firewall and router firewall and get get green faces for all my downloads and NAT is OK but the speeds are appauling. At the moment i'm downloading a game and am connected to 19 seeds and 60 peers and managing a very miserable 6kb\s average (if i'm lucky!)
I've read various forums and followed various suggestions but with no luck. One person mentioned that it was worth going back to a previous version of Azureus but as i'm 42.7% \1.41GB through the download I dont want to lose what i've already got - unless anyone knows of a way of continuing a running torrent download when using a different client?
PS. I'm using XP with SP2, don't have a download limit and as mentioned have opened the relevant ports on both my firewalls.

OK, I have the same thing with Azureus - I use a router,I have no d/l limit, I have no NEW firewall (agnitum outpost is what I use), port number is was using was 6881, I have cable 1mb/256
OS - W2K
NOW - I had been using it all fine, no problems, 20K up and up to 100k and above down....SUDDENLY last two days, nothing - a max of 10k up - checking the statistics, the upload speeds are all over the place between 0 and 10, where it used to run pretty much flat out at 20 (which is what I capped it at)
Also, when Azureus is running, there is NO connection to the internet, I get timeouts and page unavailable all the time, where before if it was running, it was slower, but this is more like a dial-up connection.
I have spent two days on google looking at port throtttling, I am in the process of changing the port numbers sequentially, to see if I can find a port that actually works.
Does anyone have any suggestions that I can understand?
I also tried using uTorrent to see if it was an Azureus problem, as has been suggested, but I couldn't get u to work yet, so no clarity yet!
Thanks to anyone for any help
PS - WOODY, as I understand it you should be able to re-open the torrent file in your new client and point the torrent client to the existing folder where your partial download is. That should (?) resume your d/l in another client. I tried it with uTorrent and it worked.

Hey proteomic, thanks for the tip. I'm using Bitlord now (but also Azureus as well whilst its on its last torrent!). I'll give that a bash tonight.
In regards to the Azureus issue, i had the exact same problem as you in that Azureus completely killed my internet connection so that i couldnt even browse the net unless i stopped it from running. On another forum someone made a suggestion to reset the router back to factory defaults and then reconfigure and having done this i found that i can now at least browse the net OK. Still cant understand how downloads are still so slow. Interesting that the upload speeds havent dropped though?!
I have a ghost image of my PC prior to Azureus going all naff and am tempted to rebuild when my final torrent has downloaded!

Does Bitlord sort out your problem? - I am trying it now, but can't find a decent torrent!
Hey proteomic, thanks for the tip. I'm using Bitlord now (but also Azureus as well whilst its on its last torrent!). I'll give that a bash tonight.
I tried resetting the router, no joy on the speeds, and my internet is still far too bloody slow!
I have about half of my upload speed - i used to run at 20 permanently (i used to even, when seeding get the 25-26 out of my 256 line) and then suddenly dropped to 10 - DAMN! I think thats what is affecting my d/l, although I have to admit I am shooting in the dark. I am going to do as you did, reinstall the whole hard disk and all soft from scratch. I have ghosted the drive too, just in case it all goes wrong - surely not!
Good luck and if anyone can shed any light on the problem....thanks
PS - is there ANY way of knowing which ISP throttle bandwidth, I am in the UK

proteomic, to be fair even with bitlord my download speeds are rubbish - slightly better than Azureus but not good enough.
Interesting you mention about ISPs throttling the bandwith. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention my ISP on this forum (apologies if i'm not) but i'm with Tiscali. In fact, it wasn't that long ago that i got an email from them saying that i was using too much bandwith during peak times - perhaps that is the cause? That would be mega sh*t if that was the cause!!

If your in u.k i would say 85% of isps use the FAIR USAGE policy which in time means no P2P at all.
It just cost me £70 to end my contract with talktalk.
Wanadoo , F2S , tiscali, tesco , pipex + many many more
I'm now paying £35 a month for TRULY uncapped access and my speeds are maxing out all day on newsgroups
peace

Well, sorry to say this (to you guys with problems), but I have had a complete recovery of my Azureus speed
I can honestly say that I have no clue why. All I did was reset my router and do the port forwarding again - maybe that sorted it
Just as an extra info, I actually just unplugged my cable connection from the set top overnight - soon as I plugged it back in Azureus started rocking back up - my u/l is back to 20 and my d/l peaked at over 120, so I figure thats ok for now
Wish I knew what it was.... but its fixed for now!
