Why is the loading time so horrible?

Okay, I'm a total noob at this, but at least I've read almost everything on this forum. I just got my Swapmagic 3.6 and Magic Switch tools, and got them installed. Sidenote: Part A of the Magic Switch did not fit at all, so I rigged it with some tissue. Anyway, I burned about a dozen games correctly, and all of them at least load. The problem is, with Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, or Dragon Quest VIII as examples, the loading times for ANYTHING is usually over 3-5 minutes. THAW takes a full 15 minutes to load into Career mode. DQVIII takes 30 seconds just to open the map.
I used crappy media (Imation), so I'm hoping that's all it is. I used the DVD Decrypter exactly as instructed, and all the games work that I've burned, just incredibly slowly. Is it just the media? Will those Japanese Taiyo Yudon (or whatever; can't remember the name) discs work without any lag or long loading time? Thanks for any help.

yep, you got crappy media........cleaning the laser might also help.

Cool. So, Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD's will have the same loading time as the real game, or do they all run slower? Thanks again!
