Hi folks! Right, totally new at all this, so be gentle! I have a Phillips DVD + RW burner and ive downloaded some games which i have as an ISO file. Can i burn the game onto a -RW, or because my burner is +R does it have to be that type of disc?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly i don't know but i think RW would read in your drive but again i don't know if they would burn i highly doubt it unless you try new firmware for you writer, on a side note Ps2's do not work well with -/+rw disks so get some dvd+r and you should be set as long as you have a booting method.

aye aye man

RW discs whether - or + are not recommended for ps2 bakups.

try using high quality -R discs such as taiyo yuden, maxell or verbatims.

for more info on high quality media go to

if u r using +R then book type them.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).
Booktyping with Nero and DVD Decrypter: http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php

(this was in tokijin's FAQ- all credit to Tokijin)

and remember to burn the disc at half their speeds say 8x then 4x, 4x then 2x. avoid getting 16x ones.

hope this helps

Thats a real help, sulaim, thank you! So by changing DVD Decrypter as it says it makes my PS2 think the disc is a DVD-ROM? Thats brilliant! Thank you both!

booting method means the loading method ie swap magic or mod chip.

@stueyd67- hav u got ur swap magic to work yet? if not, i think the discs are faulty. try getting a replacement coz trust me swap magic work top class. i dunno wat happened in ur case.

sorry for being off topic
