Well, I've been playing my Playstation 2, and everything was going just fine. But when I inserted a new game in , I got the message, "Please insert a PlayStation or PLayStation 2 format disc." behind a red screen.

After several tries, the game did eventually work. However, the next day, I got the error again. And again, and again. I tried other games that I've had no problems with, and I still recieved the message.

Does anyone know what's wrong? The game I played was rented, and it seemed to be a little scratched and smudged. It was also Wild ARMs: Alter Code F. Has this game caused anyone else trouble?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Oh, and also, the first time I try to load up the game from standby mode, it'll flash the screen where you choose browser or console, and then look like it's about to load (a black screen), but then the sceen where it shows my memory cards and discs flashes by, then finally it goes to the 'insert...'. If I try reseting the system, or take the disc out and trying again, the disc won't get past 'reading'.

Well, I tried cleaning the laser, but now the power won't work. I taped the wire down back where it was supposed to go. The wire is the silver flat, rectangular thing, right? It has folds in it, but I don't see any rips or tears.

So, if anyone knows what I could possibly do, please let me know.
Thanks.
