I have a DVD recorder and I have recorded using a dvd-r some music from the Music Choice channel on cable.
I would like to play this music on my car cd player. Is there a way to convert this to a cd and be able to play it on my cd player.
I know there are programs that will let you conver a dvd to a cd and let you view the movie on your cd player on your pc, but I want to use it for a cd for the audio only.

Did you record just the music or videos? It will make a difference.

It is not a music video channel but they show still shots while the record is playing.
I didn't know you could record music or audio only with a dvd recorder.

What you will have to do is demuliteplex the audio and video. Then convert the resulting audio to burn onto a CD. You can get step-by-step guides here:

I forgot to mention that when I record from my dvd recorder which is connected to my tv, I just get the VIDEO_TS, but when I burn movies on my pc I get the 2 files above.
I use CloneDVD2 along with AnyDVD to burn movies.
I also have DVD Shrink 3.2
I just downloaded TMPPEnc
I also have Easy CD AND DVD Creator
I have DVD Decrypter, which I seldom use.

I actually use CloneDVD2 and Any DVD to burn home movies, not other movies.

When you say you have TMPPEnc, which program? They make like 5 different ones. Some will do what we want, others will not. Check on the title bar after you open it and see what it says.
Easy CD AND DVD Creator I'm not familiar with.
The others mentioned will not do what we want.

I downloaded a trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 Double Layer Version.
I know that probably won't work. Besides, I don't have a dual layer player.
What TMPGEnc do I need?

I was wrong. :( After looking at MuxMan, it didn't do the VOB files, (at least the free version).
Get TMPPEnc XPress. I know that does it as I just tried. :)

I hate to keep bothering you, but I downloaded the program and it won't let me get past the Serial number screen. One screen is all that appears. I thought it was supposed to be a trial version.

You said you had TMPPEnc, is that the free version? I've not used the free one but understand it will do it also. We could use that!

The easiest way is to use ImTOO audio ripper (not free) which extracts the audio in various formats. So you can burn your favorits into cd accordind to your needs. Better alternative (more expensive) is to use Sony's SoundForge. TMPGEnc and other relative applications will not produce directly the desirable result.

I purchased DVD Audio Ripper for $29 and it will do what I want it to do.
It will not burn , but I have several programs that will burn to a cd.
I discovered I had to record on my dvd recorder at about 78 minutes because my burner considered my 6 hour recording an overrun. I was hoping I could split the 6 hour session into several cd's, but it considered that one continuos track and I was unable to segment it.
Thanks to both of you (dolphin2 and oracle) for your help and suggestions. It was much appreciated.

You could ues Nero's WaveEditor to break up the 6 hour track into single songs. Then convert and burn.
