i was reading a old post and i tried to reply to it but it wouldnt let me so i started this new one a member named Decon954 posted the easy way to copy a ps2 game this is what he had to say ( Quick way to copy a game. Assuming you have the original game dvd and want to back it up.

step#1

open dvd decryptor then go to MODE>ISO>READ and then it will copy the game and make an iso file on your pc hdd.

Step#2

when that finishes go to MODE>ISO>WRITE and then select the iso file that decryptor just maade. It will burn the file to the dvd and presto you are done.

Simple as that. DVD Decrypter Is Free and It's Easy to Use What's Why You Should use It,I Have Made Over 40 backups With Dvd Decypter And Have Had No Problems Yet, Just Make Sure You Set The Read Speed And Write Speed(Not Over 2x) my question is how can this copy be playable on the ps2? and if you have a mod chip in your console why the copy does not work?

Yep, it's a good reliable program. I prefer ImgBurn for burning the ISOs though, it's by the same guys with the same interface.

Erm..

Why would you need to use a swap disk when you have a mod-chip already??

Just do what the guide says, use DVD Decrypter.. I haven't found it to be troublesome or anything, just reliable.

If you don't know how to do it, just whack the disk in and press the on button! It should load... say Sony Entertainment Presents, then Playstation (mine says MATRIX infinity1.4)

then wait a bit.. then it should load.. some games from other regions take a while to load... about 30 secs.

It sounds more like a reset mod stopping the PS2 from resetting when you swap than a mod chip.
a true mod chip would be able to play games without any swapping of discs. It would also have settings that could be changed to force games from other regions to play correct, it would play DVD9 back ups, and wouled cost twice what you paid and have roughly 17
wires that needed to be soldered in.

All i do with my mod chip (MATRIX Infinity v1.4) is just put in the backup and play.. aint that much simpler than all the swapping?

I just had to get (for my slimline) the chip ($70) and the laser thingy.. ($10)

To all those thinking about it.. Mod chips.. that don't need swapping.. are worth the extra cost!! I haven't had any problems yet.

mod chips are the way to go. if you are going to use a swap disc method why not just use swap magic? no chip to install just swap & play.

Thats actually quite true...

Why get a mod chip.. + swap magic??

Why would'nt you just use swap magic instead of buying the mod chip?

In my opinion.. a Mod Chip is hassle free - all the more reason to pay the extra

There are many mod sites out there that can do it, like Teammodders in my sig.(they guy who does them is also in CA) They can install chips. They can also sell you a premodded system either slightly used or brand new.
If you get a chip get a DMS4 Pro or Matrix Infinity
I have also read some very good things about the new
Crystal Chip V1.1
Go to the webpages, read about what each chip can do, and make
a good decision based on what you need.
But the 2 i listed are top notch chips, they will cost a bit more
but that is because they can be upgraded with a simple download. And have so many features which they add to about every 6 months or so.
Where most of the cheaper chips can not.

I found MATRIX infinity v1.4 to be better than other mod chips.. and it's worth the extra cost.. but make sure.. that if you have a slimline PS2, that you get the laser thing.. I don't know what its called.. It cost an extra few bucks.. but he said you need it.. so..

Yeah, best of luck man

i listed the best chips in my last post?
DMS4 Pro , Matrix Infinity, Chrystal Chip V1.1

If you want to wait and pay hundreds of dollars on an unproven
PS3, be my guest. I never buy the first run consoles as they always
have bugs and glitches. Just look at the problems they had with the slimline lasers when they first came out. There were a lot of very
pissed off people when the laser burnt out in 20 minutes.
I would wait on the PS3 until the second or third release.
You will get a beter system at a better price.

As far as a laser fix, the only slimline that needed it is the V12
the new V13 & V14 don't really need it. But for $10 it is surely worth having just in case.
Comsoft V4 and Summone are two good laser fixes.
