gents - quick question about converting mp3s back to cdr.

essentially if i have got hold of an mix album that has been split in to x number of mp3 tracks, there is a slight gap between each track when played with winamp/media player etc. - is there any easy way to put them back in to one file and then burn to cd, and put index points in?

MP3 isn't a gapless format. Which means there is a slight gap at the end of each track. This is especially annoying with mix and live cd's where each track blends in.

There is a way to make a totally gapless audio CD out of MP3 files. Just follow this guide = http://www.chrismyden.com/040207.php

If you convert an Audio CD made out of MP3 files back to MP3 then you will lose quality. I recommend starting over and following everything in the guide above.

cheers mate, will give that a go.

and on another note, is there any software or any ideas how to put indexes in mp3 files - i.e. if the mp3 has been extracted as one file, is there any way to jump to a certain part, as you can do if it was on cd.

I don't know much about index splitting but a program like audacity or mp3 surgeon might be able to do this.
