Long story short- I'm certainly no newbie, many an experience with vobblanker, pgcedit, shrink, decrypter, and the new dvdfab decrypter. Anyhow, I've NEVER had an I/O issue until recently and I got SO frustrated I was about to rant until I realized that I did buy a different media as of late, specifically FujiFilm 8X +R's. [I've always used sony, memorex, or verbatim] The past 3 movies would rip fine, shrink fine, and then burn 98% of the way and then crash to a halt with an I/O! So my question is can it 'really' be blamed on the media or is there something completely fecked with my system as of late? Odd to say the least. Any help, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated. Just be nice though ;) Thank you much community.

OK...... so you want to know about media: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm those Fuji can be first or second class media or worse! Use DVDIfo Pro (free version to find the manufacterer ID) and check the list: www.DVDinfopro.com Get rid of those Memosux disks..... they are the worst! Stick with the Sony and Verbatim..... I use Taiyo Yuden, one of the best! Use better media and then try again!

My #25 spindals DVD-R 8X fuji disks code as FUJIFILM03 and are in the second class category. However, I have never had a bad burn.
The #30 (three 10 packs of diferent colors) DVD-R 8X Fuji bought at Staples code as TYG02, best you can get.

If you are getting the error at 98% then try resetting your file size, it may be that you are too close to the edge.

what should I reset the file size to? Shouldn't this be a hard coded field because I haven't messed with the settings since I initially downloaded MONTHS ago. Appreciate all of the suggestions.

If you are using 2nd rated media, then best to set max size to 4300 in Shrink. I use only Verbatim, and set mine at 4450.

Good luck,

Rich

Set the settings 4300 to 4364 it keeps you away from the edge of the disk which can have uneven dye, or in some cases no dye at all.

I agree that with With Verbatim(MCC) or TY I can go to 4400 file size and encounter no problems at all. 4450? I would have to try it out before a blanket recommendation.
