there is no extracting to iso. What you have are the individual files for the game.

i am afraid I can't understand what u r saying.

if u have the original disc of MGS:3. use DVD Decrypter to make back up.see the DVD Decrypter tutorial : http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

if u downloaded it, visit: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/248020

sly_61019, thanks for your reply, man. You said that I have the individual files of MGS3 after I extracted them. So, since after extracting all those files I'm left with 4 folders and 3 files, what do I do now? Do I burn them to disc using Nero? I don't think I can burn them using DVD Decrypter since they're not an ISO file. I await your reply.

Sulaim, thanks for your reply also. What is it that is confusing you about what I said? I downloaded all those files from the net, and after I exracted them I'm left with 4 folders and 3 files. Now, the problem is that there's no ISO file for me to use DVD Decrypter on to backup the game. That's the problem. Hope you can help me out too dude. Thanks for your help too, my man.

Just make a IML from CD/DVD Gen and than build the iml using IML2ISO or Apache2

PS2 Slimline + Swap Magic + Fan
PS3 60gb Version 1.90
PSP 3.52 M33 EUR Black Version + Logitech Hard Case + Logitech 3 Sound Speakers + 2gb Sony Memory Stick
Nintendo Wii + 3 Wii&Nunchuck Controllers
NDS Original + M3 Simply + 1gb Kingston MicroSD

how did you get the files? There should have been an image somewhere before you got to the individual files.

@taurusxxx

You'll need to import them into CD DVD GEN 1.5 and generate an IML file (or Export IML file). To make sure you have everything correctly, you'll need to know/have an original MGS3 ISO and have either Apache 2 or Apache 3 to read the original ISO, so you can reference the order of the original file to your files and put in CD DVD GEN 1.5. Once you've "export iml file", have Gnie's IML2ISO v4 or Gnie's ExPERT to rebuild a brand new ISO, then burn with Nero, DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn (your choice).

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

3dluis and alkohol, thanks for your replies. On your advice, I imported the following files to CD/DVD GEN:

- ABC (folder)
- LICENSE (folder)
- MIGS (folder)
- MODULES (folder)
- NETDOWN.ELF
- SLES_820.13
- SYSTEM

Then, an iml file spat out. I then used Apache2 to build the iml to ISO. HOWEVER, the ISO came out to be 5 GB long, and it's still getting bigger! And I don't think that's normal at all. Is this really normal? What should I do?

sly_61019, to answer your question, I got the files from Pirate Bay. The size of the original files was 4.28 GB.

i don't know why this is happening.however, i wud recommend that u rebuild the iso.it will reduce its size then you will be able to put it on a DVD-5.

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip. Another purpose of rebuilding is to make games run smoother. Usually the size of the game after rebuilding is smaller, but not always. If you're a Swap Magic user, make sure to look out for dummy files when rebuilding.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

If the final ISO is 5GB then it's still too big. You'll need to rebuild it again, you can try to have Gnie's ExPERT to rebuild using the ISO you have right now, or you can try these steps below:

<> have Apache 2, or Apache 3 or ISO Buster to extract your 5GB ISO into hard drive again
<> load CD DVD GEN 1.5 to generate a new IML file and put in everything as the order when you see it while extracting with Apache 2 (or Apache 2 or ISO Buster)
<> now fill in those blanks (ie SLUS, SLES, American, PLAYSTATION, etc.) and Export your IML file
<> now have Gnie's IML2ISO v4 to rebuild the new IML file
<> if your final ISO is still 5GB, then there is something wrong with one of those files
<> if your final ISO is roughly 4GB or anything below 4.3GB, then burn the final ISO with Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express or DVD Decrypter (your choice)

Good luck!!! Oh, by the way, I don't do/mess with any downloaded stuff, so perhaps someone who's more familiar with downloaded files will help to resolve your issue in due time.

I think he extracted the iso with WinRAR. After you downloaded the game what was the extension of the file before decompression? I.E. was it rar, iso, what?

3dluis, sly_61019, alkohol, Tokijin, and sulaim, I owe all of you a deep apology. I didn't take the time to look at the extension of the MGS3 file that I downloaded - very careless. It's actually an ISO file and it's 4.28 GB. Here's the name of that file:

[PS2][FULLDVD][Multi2][www.pctorrent.com].iso

So, all I have to do is just burn it straight to disc using DVD Decrypter without unraring it. Again, I apologize for my carelessness and for wasting your time. One question I do have, however, when looking at the file, it says, "Multi2"? What does "Multi2" mean?

Again, thanks for ALL your input, you guys!

That's what I figured. There's no need to apologize, at least not to me. I had a thread go on like this forever one time, and it turned out to be the same thing. That taught me to look out for this, a common mistake. That's just the name of the torrent file. Ignore that and burn the iso file to quality media with DVD Decrypter. Follow this guide:

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter.
Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544
If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. So far I've never had a lag, skip, freeze, or boot failure since I switched to Taiyo Yuden's. With results like that, why would I use anything else?

hursty, thanks for answering my "multi2" question. I read somewhere that the MGS3 file I downloaded is in French/Engish. That being the case, I'm hoping that it's an NTSC file because I suspect it's a game made for North america: Canada and US. I'm praying for this. On the chance it's a PAL, I'll have to convert it to NTSC.

OK guys, one final question is, since I got a Mini Apple mod chip in my PS2, do I still have to convert the PAL MGS3 to a NTSC? Does the game offer the option of changing the game to NTSC onscreen?

Thanks !!!!!!!!!

I don't think so. No offense but Apple chips are crap in my opinion.

Tokijin, thanks for your much needed answer. I got a mini apple and it does the job just fine. The only problem I've had with it is when I used media that was low quality. When I used something else (ie, Sony DVD-R), never did I experience a glitch.

So, I guess I've got to convert the PAL MGS3 to NTSC. Tokijin, again, thanks for all your help, my man.

As long as it works for you. I've been wrong about chips before. I've talked to a couple pro modders and none of them really bothered with the Apple Chip. That doesn't mean it's terrible, it just means that most people go with more well known chips like DMS and Matrix. I definitely wouldn't say it's in that class, but again as long as it works for you.

37. Q. I downloaded a PAL game, how do I convert it to NTSC?
A. Use Adrenaline patcher if it's an EA game: http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_utils_files.shtml#ADRenalin%20Patcher Note: I've been told this works for non EA games as well. The screen won't be perfectly centered, unless you have a modchip that forces video mode.
Or patch with PAL2NTSC patcher with Y fix for non EA games: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718
