Hi again,

I'm finally building my PC and i wanted some feed back on which of the AMD 64-X2 to buy. I confused wether to buy a Manchester or a Venice and so on? Does anyone have any input on wich processor would best fit my aplication, i will be using this set up for video editing only so i would like to buy the best processor for my build. Also if anyone has any suggestions on a motherboard and Ram for this build i would be very greatful.
Thanks for your help and have a nice day

dont buy an X2 yet wait a little while longer because AMD a releasing a new line of X2 Processors that will be compatible with DDR2 which means that the new X2 systems will be outperforming the ones you can get at the moment and since your doing video editing this will be very usefull as the render times will be faster than they would be if you were to buy one now.

DDR2 Runs at speeds over 1000MHz (if youve got enough cash) wheras standard DDR Maxes out at 500MHz and AMD cores only currently use 400MHz DDR so as you can see waiting for the new cores will be worth while.

If you do decide that you just cant wait make sure that the X2 you buy has a 2000MHz FSB, i believe the current fastest X2 is running at 4.8GHz ( 2 x 2.4GHz cores) so youd be looking for the X2 4800 if you wanted the fastest you can get. DFI motherboards tend to have rock solid stability and so far as i know are some of the best motherboards money can buy. And as youll see many times throughout this site the BEST company to get memory from is CRUCIAL MEMORY.

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

A good thread to view is the Intel P4 vs AMD thread.

A few very knowledgeable members are in their, two of which are keen on AMD and what they have to offer. There is mention of the Opteron chip 175 dual core, very stable at 2.7
