Hello all,
I'm having a slight problems with port forwarding. When I first did it it worked fine, I used shields up and it told me my port was open. Everything was going great until suddenly my port closed. I was like no biggie, I'll just switch. So I go into my router forward the port, allow it in my firewall, and Shields Up still says it closed. I deleted the port from my firewall ran the test again and now it was stealth. I allow it again and it says closed. Anyone know what's up. Please if you can say anything to help this matter I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm guessing you've gone through the guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/229385
So next thing is have you taken down the firewall in xp (assuming you're using xp)?
Guessing that these two answers will be yes, I'll ask what client you're using.

Just to be sure, cause we all have brain farts from time to time, I'll write out the basic steps and you can tell me if you went through them. It took me hours once to remember that I had to re-set my static ip addy.
1) Set your client to a port number.
2) Set a static ip address in your network connections in xp. That includes knowing the proper dns servers (not the ones of your router).
3) Set your router to have that port open to the specific static ip address you're using.
4) Make sure your firewall (xp) allows that program to run.
That should be it.

Yes, I've done all that. Does it have anything to do with power loss while computer is still on? Thank you for your post.

Sure,
When I say set a static ip I mean that when your computer connects to your router, it asks for an ip address. Most routers have an address of something like 192.168.1.1. So when your computer connects to the router, the router will give your computer an ip address of something like 192.168.1.101.
The issues come into play when you have multiple computers connected to the router. The first one to connect will get 192.168.1.101 and the second will get 192.168.1.102 and so on. So your computer can be using a few different ip addresses over a period of time. (Remember that the router is the device that uses the ip address given to you by the internet provider.)
So, when you set up to open a port on your router, you often will have to give it an ip address to relate that port to, and you'll give it your 192...etc ip address that's currently on your computer. If you were to re-connect to the internet under a different ip address (maybe cause your wife or kid connected their computer before you) the relation between the ip address and the port won't work because you're now using a different ip. Make sense so far?
So in xp, you have to set your network connections to use a static ip. Info on that can be found here:
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
Then, whenever you connect to the internet, you will always be using a single ip address and the relation between the ip address and port you put on the router will always hold true.
For the DNS servers, there are DNS server numbers for the router and for the isp. You have to use the DNS numbers for the isp when you config your static ip address in windows. But that's all explained in the link above.
Good luck!

Does it have anything to do with your company blocking you? I know that may sound stupid but I don't know what to think anymore.

That too can happen. What Shaw has done (isp in western Canada) is throttle the bandwidth of some users that are suspected of using peer to peer networks. Check up on your isp and see what's up :)

Thanks for the information Inescapbl. I have now chaned my router settings, however the Shields Up website is still showing my port as "closed". And when I use Azureus I can cennect to remote and ocal peers, but my upload speed is still 0kbps.
