Hi, I've been using bitcomet for the past year or so with no problems what so ever. I just upgraded to the latest version last night and I'm having some problems. I downloaded a film, it was a .rar file. Usually when I download a .rar, I navigate to the download folder where it's stored and when I open the .rar folder there could be 30-40 winrar icons in there, I use winrar. So then I extract it to my desktop lets say. And thats it, I have a film or if I want it on dvd I convert and so on, but now that I've upgraded, when I navigate to the folder where the file is downloaded too, instead of a bunch of winrar icons in it there are a bunch of icons and when I click on 1, it say "windows can't open this file, do you want to choose a programme to open it". Now apart from the .rar file. I also downloaded a music video in avi format, so before I got the latest bitcomet version yesterday, I could just double click on the avi file and watch it there and then, but when I navigated to the downloaded avi file, once again it was a file that when you click on it, it say "windows cant open this file, do you want to choose a programme to open it". So I did, I choose vlc media player, and it did play the file and when it finished playing the file, the original file that wouldn't open, changed to a vlc icon and would play when I click on it. Ang suggestions on what's wrong here? Is it to do with bitcomet codecs? Thanks.

Never mind this post, I've sussed it. If this ever happens to anybody, go to the start menue on your pc, type in control panel, once in there hit folder options and once in there hit the "view" tab and scroll down to "hide extensions for know file types" and uncheck it. And thats it, you should have all the proper icons on your file downloads. Like I said, I've been using bitcomet for about the past year with no probs at all, but since I got the latest version last night I've had this problem. Anyway problem solved :-)

Hi Lethal, hope things are well for you. I see your an addict these days, well done. The more seniors and addicts about, the better for everybody information wise!! Ah yeah, I do pop in every day nearly for a read of the posts, sayin that, I don't post unless I have a problem or I see something that I can help someone with. Happy new year :-)
