Obviously many people have been having issues backing up Wedding Crashers, particularly the uncorked version. I also had trouble with American Wedding (Unrated) which has both the theatrical and unrated versions in the same title set. I use the most recent version of Decrypter to rip the files in File Mode to my HD, while AnyDVD 5.8.1.1 runs in the background. I then remove trailers, previews, warnings, etc. with DvdReMake Pro 3.1.4, encode with Nero Recode 2, and burn with Nero. The problem I'm seeing seems to occur during the file ripping process. When I open up DvdReMake and elect to import the files, the program goes into a "recovering cells information" process during the main movie title set, which only occurs when there is a potential problem. I received an error message and a log that indicates a TIMEMAP RECOVERY PROBLEM IN VTS2, where the movie is. I have read that this is caused due to the ILVU sections and seamless branching issues between the theatrical and uncorked overlap during the rip process. I don't want to necessarily alter my current backup process, but would be willing to add steps to alleviate the problem. Any suggestions?

Personally I had no problems backing up the uncorked version using DVD Shrink and then Nero to burn.

I know you said you don't want to change the way you back up, but maybe you should give it a try.

You ripped using Shrink? I personally have not seen fantastic results from Shrink's encoding engine, and Nero Recode brings the project much closer to DVD quality.

I haven't really noticed a problem with the quality when using Shrink. Then again all I've used is Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Usually I use the reauthor option and just choose the main movie and it doesn't compress it at all.

Which version of Nero is the Recode feature on?

I have an OEM software package that came with my Sony burner. I believe it's Nero v6.16. If you only keep the main movie, I'm sure Shrink will do just fine.

Download and install one of these AnyDVD (newest version), DVD43 (Freeware just updated) or Region FREE CSS copy protect removal tool (Not sure of newest revision). They are a utility which when installed automatically remove copy protection once a DVD is mounted in the drive. They remove "ALL" current revisions of copy protection currently used by movie studios. Simply run DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink or whatever program you choose to rip when you receive the pop up notification it's been removed. I've never missed a backup.

It seems the problem that I am having is trying to backup just the movie file. Performing an "entire disc" backup creates no problems. Using decoder of choice w/ shrink is causing a problem when reauthoring to backup just the movie onto a DVD-5. The "main movie" file is not listed under main movie, but is under unreferenced material & I haven't been able to separate it from the other files when reauthoring in shrink. It actually doesn't show up at all under any of the headings when using reauthor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I typically use DVDIdle pro running in the background w/ shrink and Nero to burn.

Gma 1972 , not familar with DvD Idle , for Wedding Crashers uncorked used Dvd Decryptor to rip to HD , then Shrink in reauthor mode . There are 2 main titles , title 1 is uncorked version , title 2 i presume is theatrical version , just dragged and dropped title 1 , removed unnecessary audio and burned iso with DvDD et voila .
Don't see any diff on both of my standalone players as compared to original ..

Thanks for the help, the prob. I was having was b/c I was using decrypter to only rip the main movie files before using shrink. After selecting all the files, ripping to HD, and then using shrink to select main movie, no problems. BTW - dvdidlepro works just like AnyDVD - background CSS & ArCooS removal.

Glad you got W/C backed up Gma1972 , thanks for info on DVDIdle Pro ,
may have to look into it sooner than later as Shrink /DVDD sometimes have problems with new CP methods out there ie ArCooS as you noted .
They are always trying to build a better mousetrap lol ....
