Awesome site.

I have a Flip Top with a PS2 v3. I use Swap Magic 3.6 as my boot disc. This is the version that allows for "Load Program" which I don't utilize as of yet, but it sounds like it has cool possibilities.

Going thru the tutorial for AR/GS/SM, I see that SM is asterisked a few times, and the notes below referring to the asterisk imply a few steps can be skipped if you are using SM like myself.

When I load SW successfully, I reach a final screen that has the "load program" and "video" selectables on it. At this point, I've tried to do a TOC Refresh, which I've read is done by Ejecting SM, after which, "Load a TOC Contents" or something to that effect comes on the SM screen. RPG games are said to be best for a lot of TOC, so, I use Gauntlet.

One big question is, after I put in Gauntlet and hit X, it begins to spin almost immediately, and it simply never stops spinning, at least not that I can tell. How am I supposed to safely remove Gauntlet or any game for that matter from a PS2 while it's spinning???

If I bypass using the TOC Refresh, and try a backup of Socom (This is the original, first Socom, I didn't think it was an Online game, yet, it has an Online selectable feature, did I need to bake in the DNAS into the backup??? or is that just for rebuilds?), I get invalid ps2 disc. The disc is Optodisc -R burned at 4x using an NEC 3500 that may NOT have the latest Firmware, but it would be very close to the last. OptoDisc is listed as a 2nd class media. I've had 20 successful DVD Movie backups without a coaster, yet, maybe this is not preferred for PS2 game backups, I've read that perhaps I should go to Ridata, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell (Japan), etc instead. I do notice that the Optodisc back is not clear or silver, but colored somewhat, almost like a CD.

The cost was about 30 cents for a pack of 100, so if there is a better media for BOTH DVD Movie backups and PS2 Game backups, at a similar price or a bit more, I would surely move to that, advice welcome. I do see many specials on dvd-r, etc.

I've also seen someone who used Swap magic 3.6 + AR MAX EVO + Flip Top. 2 are the same as me, but AR MAX EVO is not something I use, what is it, and should I use it?

Once again, thanks, the sticky's at the top helped me make this post much more educated and insightful, and I'm sorry it didn't answer all of my questions, the main one of many being, how do I take out the spinning TOC Refresh of Gauntlet? Did I even need to try that?
