Certain games that I download from newsgroups(pal games for some reason) and try to unpack are getting the error of "CRC problem..file is corrupt" and its saying certain files are not present when they are.
My question is: is this a problem with winrar(as its the trial version that's expired)?
or is it the files? I don't beleive that the files are corrupt as many other games work. and how to correct this. What to do?
I've used winrar hundreds of times and am not sure if its the version of winrar or what.???
If you are trying to unpack them then burn the game.. then you only unpack the WinRAR files, after you get the ISO, you burn it with an image burning program such as DVD Decrypter, onto high speed media to play on a modded console.
from what i have heard newsgroup downloads should have something called a par file. This can be used to check and make sure you have all the files that should be there.
Are you using this to check before you try using WinRAR?
I have heard that newsgroups frequesntly have missing files.
i've burned many games and am familiar with how to do this, but my question is..
Why is WinRAR giving me the error message of "file is corrupt" and saying (ex. part 04 rar is missing when it isn't)and not allowing the iso to be formed, when all of the parts are there.
I've never heard of a file being corrupt? what is this and how to fix WinRAR so it doesn't do this?
Pay attention to what Steimy said, the game obviously isn't 100% complete , you obviously don't have all the FULL RAR archives, make sure the download is 100% complete, there is no other option.
newsgroup downloads should come with a set of PAR files, which can be used to repair damaged newsgroup downloads
newsgroup files are more easily corrupted due to the nature of the way it works, with many servers not having enough re-tention,or the up-loader not upping the files properly
right click on the smallest PAR file you have, and select "open",then because its the first time you are using quickpar, you need to select it from the program list, remember to tick the box,so you dont have to find it everytime from then on
use quickpar to check all blocks are present,(the bar should go green)
if a repair is needed, just click repair,..> and the missing blocks will be recovered
this only works remember if the up-loader has provided you with enough blocks that came with the initial download
