AC3 Problem

I am trying to create a DVD from Star Wars Episode 2. It has ac3 sound, so I first stripped it out of the avi using virtualdub then fixed it with BeSweet. I then used TMPGenc to encode the video to MPEG2 and then used IFOEdit to create then vobs using the AC3 sound file, finally I burnt it to DVD-r using NERO.
When I try and play back the movie the sound volume is really really low and it seems like it is only the high frequency sound that is coming through, has anybody had this prob before or can somebody please offer some ideas?

Only problem I had with Phantom Menace & Attack Of The Clones was I tried to burn at X2 but they froze in the final chapters.
I burnt them at X1 & now I have excellent back ups !; )
