right the situation is my system 2 in my sig wont start it keeps coming up with the above, my question is there a way around this or will i have to reinstall/repair the isntallation? or has my hdd given up the ghost.

The only time I ever saw that was when the boot.ini was messed up and pointing to an incorrect partition. Boot.ini is what tells Windows what partition is the system partition.

all fixed thank yopu so much, it couldnt find the bootcfg /rebuild so advised me to chkdsk which i did, then had to chkdsk /r and it worked, thank you all so much.
