Is it required to have the original disc when patching DNAS??

I am trying to patch a backup but I read in the FAQ that when you put in the Disc ID utility, you have to put the original in and you'll get the code. Is this true?

yes. but you can just search the forums for the dnas list and get the code for your game from there.
