I just purchase a moth ago a epson r220. And its broken. I started to print and dammmm the ink wasted so fast on the lowest setting. knowing about this problem I decided to buy a no name brade ink. the thing stop workin after a few prints. the ink holder got stuck towards the right. I manage to get the ink out but the printer lights (two reds lights) stay on. I cant find a manual to repair it. I search and search. this thing has cost me more the I ever wanted to spend let me see. spongeless cartide $$$$, the ink$$$, the chip reseter$$$. If I new all this a head of time I would have made the purchase. And yes I asked around and this printer comes recommeded. The only good thing is that epson will replace it. I wish I could get my money back. why would I want to go through the pain again.

which hp is good. I like the fact that I could print on the disc. And the cost. Would the hp take universal ink?

When you say which HP is good, I guess that depends on what your going to be doing with it. Are your just going to be printing images on CD's/DVD's? What is your budget like? I havent had any problem with my HP photosmart series of printers I have owned over the years, but then again I have some friends who do higher end photography work and they like the epsons, but I'm sure they are using a much higher end model as the one your speaking of

From what everyone else has to say about your printer, I would consider giving it another shot. If youre set against that idea, have you considered a litescribe burner, I mean if your only going to be doing cd/dvd's. Looks like the other option is Cannon and then some acc. so it will print the discs. Good luck

Maybe just accept that you were unlucky and got a duff unit.
The reason they are reommended, is because they are generally very good reliable printers, which produce high quality photo and CD prints, you were just unlucky!
No manufactured items are produced to 100% perfect, and as such someone will always get the odd duffer, this time it was you!
Granted your experience with Epson was to get garbage, Epson products generally are very good.

Not sure what ink your using.
I use the genuine Epson ink cartridges, they last for ages depending on what I'm printing mainly DVD's and then the odd photo.
I have also used non Epson cartridges before such as Jettec which were pre-chipped.
Never had any issues with any of them.
Chances are that the replacement will cure any fault you had which drained the ink so quickly.
Also it worth noting that the Epson cartridges and other makes do not like being used in conjunction with each other.

ALATONY,
I currently own 3 different Epson printer, never had any problems with them. For disk printing I'm using an R220 and with generic ink. It serves my needs just fine.

I buy it with my other supplies at Supermediastore. Other members shop from other places. Maybe some of them will chime in.

i hate it damn printer even when i only like print once the ink would dry up in a month even though i store in a cool area. so everytime i'm done printing i would store the ink tanks in a separate area.
stop hoping, start loving.
