i found out how to do it myself. first use isobuster to break the file down. then rebuild it but leave out the ps2dir.bin this is a dummy file instead replace it with a text document with the same name. and whala you'll have a working backup.
your welcome

1st/ dycrpt the game with dvd dycrptor
2nd/u should have an iso of 4.00 gbs which is to big for swapmajic so it needs to be shrunk
3rd/ to shrink the game u should use isobuster using hursty's method which will give u a game of about 1.71gbs
4th/ the trick is theres a hidden dummy file in the ps2dir.bin file so this needs to be replaced with a new text document with the same name
5th/once that file is replaced with the new file u made burn with nero
6th /your welcome again

ok once u dycrpt the game u should have an iso of 4.00 gbs/now open isobuster and open the MVP06 file u just made/isobuster should break all the files down/now leave it there and go to your desktop/now right click your desktop find NEW then FOLDER click it/you should now have a new folder on your desktop/RENAME that folder MVP062/open that folder u just made up it should be empty now MINIMIZE it/go back to the MVP06 file u have open in isobuster/drag ALL the files EXCEPT the PS2DIR.BIN over to the MVP062 folder u just made/go back to your desktop this time right click NEW and TEXTDOCUMENT/ u should now have a new TEXT DOCUMENT on your desktop/OPEN IT,it should be EMPTY hit the space bar ONE time and SAVE IT/this should make the text document 1kb/now RENAME it PS2DIR.BIN/once that is done drag IT also into the MVP062 folder/ u should now have a rebuilt NO DUMMYFILE GAME/burn using Nero and it should load just fine

Oh for the love quit giving bad advice. A. There are no dummy files in NCAA MVP Baseball 2006. I double checked my copy to be sure. Even if there were, dummy files will read as "dummy", "dummy.dat", or "dummydata" B. The cutoff for a Swap Magic rebuild is around 4.37GB's. C. There is no need to rebuild games if you're using a modchip. D. I have a Matrix Infinity, downloaded the NCAA MVP 06 iso, and burned it at 4x to 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's (TYG02) and it plays fine. This game doesn't need rebuilt, especially if you have a modchip. I know you're just trying to help tweety21, but you're just confusing people new to PS2 burning. Read the stickies at the top of the forum, then you'll be able to give people better advice.

Okay realdeal1, do you still have the original iso on your HD? If you tried rebuilding the game as he suggested it probably wouldn't boot. I don't know exactly what the ps2dir.bin file is, but it's definitely not a dummy file. If you tried to burn the game after overwriting that file, it's likely it wouldn't work. Try burning the original iso at 4x, if you still have it.

Nobody is dissing you. The advice you you gave is confusing and incorrect. The PS2dir.bin file is not a dummy file. More likely it was a combination of user error, bad media, burn speed, and software. I was noob at one time too. I'm not trying to make you look bad, it's just you're confusing the people in this thread more than helping them, in my opinion. It's simple to get this game to work. It should be a straight burn. If it's not, than it's probably a case of bad media. Cheers!
