Can someone tell me the best programs to use to re-encode a DVD at a lower Bitrate so that I can get a 5gb movie down to about 3.9gb with best possible picture, Ive tried rempeg but keeps crashing at 99% and the only succesfull atempt I have had with rempeg had a perfect picture and sound but was slightly jerky. Please help this is really giving me an headache.

Ifoedit strips away streams that are not needed ie: french audio, ive already done this and im left with a movie of 5.2gb this is why I now need to re-encode the movie to lower the bitrate and reduce the size of the movie.

Well, ReMPEG2 and TMPGEnc (plus) are probably the best ones to do the trick.

TMPGEnc you can download from our site, TMPGEnc Plus you can buy from TMPGEnc.net/ " class=korostus target="_blank">http://www.TMPGEnc.net/

The only real difference is that TMPGEnc Plus allows you to use higher MPEG-2 bitrates than TMPGEnc.
