I have a Sony DVD burner and I installed it not to long ago. I have Nero 7 and i was wondering how do i change the booktype on it so i can burn a dl disc. I had DVD Decrypter but I couldn't change the booktype. Also, I noticed when i was on DVD Decrypter, it had the current profile as cd-r. I don't know if it was because I had the demo version or if my computer isn't reading the dvd burner. Any suggestions?

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

I have a sony dvd burner and it doesn't show that i can do it on DVD Decrypter. Should I just use Nero? But then again I have DVD-R so would that affect anything that i said?

Hi
You dont need to change the book type when using DVD-R only with + discs,if you really want book changing capabilities take a look on google for hacked firmware for your drive which my allow you to do it, you flash it at your own risk!

Do not flash your Burner with hacked firmware. That is for advanced users only. Doing so could destroy your burner if you don't do everything exactly right. I wouldn't even attempt it myself. There's only one burner I know of that can booktype DVD-R's. Generally when people refer to booktyping, they're referring to DVD+R and DVD+R DL media. Booktyping them to DVD-ROM makes for better compatibility with stand alone DVD players.

Hi
Tokijin is 100% right, flashing with hacked firmware is extremely risky, although if carried out correctly it can greatly improve the performance of some drives, book typing, riplock etc.
As the man says, the choice is yours!
