What causes my songs not to be found in itunes (the ones with the ! next to them)? I would like to prevent it from happening in the future, its getting irritating as so many songs are showing up this way- at least half of my library. Thanks

I think it might mean that they have been deleted off the computer or something.

have you moved the original songs to another folder,
or deleted them from your computer ?
then that is why the ! appears.

or are your songs on an external HD and you don't have it turned on, then you get the !

itunes is only a link to your original songs in the folder you told itunes to find them.

check that out, this is one thing i can actually help people with.
i have 3 ipods and trial and error cost me alot of my time.

mike.

To avoid it happening in the future, go

Edit ==> Preferences ==> Advanced ==> General, then select 'Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to itunes library. That way, iTunes will create it's own music folder and you can delete the origionals '-)
