I tried a PS2 game that i burned on my slim ps2 with swap magic 3.3, and it didn't work, but yet when i tried it on my friend's PS2,which has a modchip in it, it worked. Now the problem i'm think is that it's either:
1)Swap Magic disk
2)Lens didn't work
3)I have to rebuild the game (it's 4.2 GB)

Did this ever happen to anyone else? I need some help with this. Thanks in Advance.

Also, what does the special boot in Swap Magic do?

I have the fliptop lid.

Some games i had no problem with, but MGS3 sometimes had the sound skip on me, and sometimes long loads. But this game(Resident Evil 4) doesn't work on my PS2 at all :S.

Nope, it's probably cheap media. What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I'm using Memorex DVD+R, some people say it's bad media, but it works for my other PS2 games and Xbox games.

If that really is the problem, then why would it still work on my friend's PS2 :S

What program did you use to burn RE4 or burning games in general?
and how do you do it?

Yep. You can continue to use crap media and wonder why your backups don't work, or try some good media and do something about it. You can get good deals on Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's at http://www.supermediastore.com

Have to agree... Memorex is bad.

Memorex= very bad media= harder working laser= quicker laser failure.

I'm sure you do have some games which work fine off the Memorex. But alot of games require the ps2 to read more durning gameplay. That's where you'll start seeing problems.

Take care and good luck

trust me i learned the hard way, you can continue to use memorex media (which is amazingly expensive and very very horrible) or you can buy new media and save your ps2, save your self, and at least the game you burn will last longer than 3-4 months. EVERYTHING IVE SAID IVE LEARNED THE HARD WAY, CHEAP MEDIA KILLED MY SYSTEM, CHEAP MEDIA DIED OUT ON ME, CHEAP MEDIA COST ME MORE THAN REALLY REALLY GOOD MEDIA, so why the heck would anyone still buy cheap/crappy media?

o btw try rebuilding hte game, cuz even sometimes 4.2gig games need to be rebuilt

Version 7 SCPH3900X, Broken Lens, Uknown Internal Mod
Version 14 Slim SCPH75001, Swapmagic 3.6 Magickeys
Onyx DS Lite, Supercard light + Superkey
