Has anybody tried this? its supposed to trick the psp into thinking its a v1.51, or .52 or v2.00, (whichever you choose) to play umd's that need that version.
Ive tried it and cant get a umd to work.
Anybody else?

I have tried this, on 3 different PSPs, same on all 3.... it didn't work. It just changes what the firmware is displayed as in the system settings. I couldn't play any UMDs that required 2.0 firmware.

i got this to work except i used pspset instead. i was able to boot up grand theft auto on a 1.5. theres also another version called pspsetx0.2 which u kan only boot up when u upgraded to 2.0 and used the eboot loader. that version will trick your system into thinkin its a 2.5 if u wish. i have been able to run both wwe smackdown vs raw and nfs 5-1-0 when they require 2.5 upgrades on my 2.0 version psp.

It only works for certain games. Not many. Why dont u guys try devhook. Then you can have 1.5 and 2.71. Plus with devhook you can play ALL PSP games up to this point.

Ok just some information on WAB/Version Changers and the higher firmwares.
WAB Version Changer just makes the PSP think it's a different version that what it really is. But when firmware 2.0 came out some of the games started requiring 2.0. The first games that "required" 2.0 just checked to make sure the PSP firmware said 2.0. Therefore these early games could be run on 1.5 using the WAB Version Changer. However after a while games started to require library functions in 2.0 that were lacking in 1.5. Therefore WAB Version Changer was useless with these games because the library functions were missing in the actual firmware.

I really like the SXT Version changer. Yoshihiro made both, but if you wanna trick change your FW, SXT will let you do it WITHOUT having your PSP plugged in!

Ugh...I hate programs that make you have your PSP plugged in in order to flash it.

Yeah but you hate it even more if your battery died right in the middle of flashing something. can you say 250 dollar paper-weight with a perty green light. although its highly doubtful if thats going to happen since it does it in a split second. flashing firmware files is a different story.

There's a difference between knowing what you're doing and not knowing. I know what I'm doing when it comes to electronics and I'm not to worried about anything malfunctioning at the exact minute that I happen to be flashing something. If worst came to worst I'd just buy a new PSP. They're not that expensive.

Yea and in my case, if mine broke it would suck tho... I have the white PSP. So if it broke, I'd have to go to the game store, filter thru all the used PSPs, find one w/ 1.50 FW, take it home, open up both PSPs and swap motherboards. (Again) I hated it the first time. Not like it's difficult, but it's a pain in the a55... But they ARE pretty cheap.
Hey hex, what idea did I give you for using .jpegs for wallpapers on 1.50?
Oh yea, good news everyone! I lost my job today! NO SARCASM. Seriously - I wanted a break... Plus, I got my other 4GB MS today. I went and bought "CARS" (after I saw it made the #1 spot) and I'm currently ripping that and Splinter Cell (again)... Now, I have 12GB of storage. I'm lucky! I'm really lucky! I have TONS of ISOs on my collection of memory sticks...
