I have made several backups of a couple of dvd movies with DVDX and Clone with Any DVD and get the same results. The quality is great, but most of them freeze somewhere during the play session. What am I doing wrong and what should I do. Thanks Grambo in confusion.

first off what are you playing them back on?
If it is a slimline PS2 then they are know for being kind of sketchy on video playback.

also some other things to try.
1. make sure all outher programs that could be running in the backround are shut down. This includes antivirus software.
2. do not use the PC at all when burning a movie
3. make sure you are burning them at the slowest speed of 1X
4. If you are using +R media then you may want to try some quality
-R media instead.
5. do not put labels on the DVD's

I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 for 95% of the movies i backed up.
The only times i had problems were from the above factors. The PS2 did not do well with playback so i bought a stand alone Lite-On player. The movies seem to play fine on it.
If you want you can try using DVD Shrink to do the compression, then burn it with CloneDVD and see if that works better. But CloneDVD and AnyDVD work great. Especially if they are the retail versions and not some cheap knock off from a torrent site because then you have free upgrades.
