ok for some time now ive had a version 5 ps2 with a duo2 se modchip installed but recently need for speed most wanted has been playing up.
- loading screens during game (while racing VERY ANNOYING)
- missing graphics (something like graphical lag)
- loading times very long
- skipping sounds/music
- sometimes the scrren goes blank as if the game is workin then it returns back to the white screen where it shows the mem card then shows the disc is unreadable.

ive readjusted the laser numerous times, cleaned the laser with windex until it shines and replaced the laser but still havent resolved the problem.

however i noticed that with the cover off my heatsink was becoming really hot so i laid a fan ontop of opened ps2 which kept it really nice and cool which for awhile stops the problems above until now where it doesnt even boot
!!!!!!!PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME IVE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhh Look Feck it all ;)

Sounds like a burning and media issues to me. What kind of media/blank did you used? What's the MID and how fast did you burned?

NFS Most Wanted worked flawlessly for me, using genuine YUDEN000T02 8X DVD+R with book typing into DVD-ROM and burning at 4X.

im using princo 4x discs (which i had no problem with b4) on a poineer dvd-107d at 2x speed

i recently put nfs mw on a JVC DVD-RW but still have the same problem i cant even read the originals, i checked the laser for the static point (doesnt seem to have it) which doesnt make sense as it was working b4.
it be honest i dont really wanna mess with the pots and stuff (which i shouldnt have to with a new laser)

Princo is terrible. Get some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's from http://www.supermediastore.com

Well your laser could be on the way out. At around 5 years, it's downhill. What version PS2 do you have?

23. Q. What version is my PS2?

Have you used DVD-/+RW's often with your PS2? They're horrible for the PS2 laser. If you've done that on a regular basis or used Prince regularly, either one of those could be the issue.

never use RW discs.

the nfs:mw in game loading screen error is becuase of bad media. burn it onto high quality media like maxell, verbatims, taiyo yuden.

remember to book-type if u are using +R discs and to burn it at half speed of disc say 4x on a 8x discs.

also rebuilding it will help.

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip. Another purpose of rebuilding is to make games run smoother. Usually the size of the game after rebuilding is smaller, but not always. If you're a Swap Magic user, make sure to look out for dummy files when rebuilding. If you are having trouble getting a backup to boot, and you're sure the media isn't the problem, try rebuilding the game.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

glad you got it worked out, RW discs just are not a good choice
for doing games on. Most people want them because you can erase them and put another game on them. But how often would you actually do that?
Just stick with DVD-R and you should have much better results.

No offense here, but CAN'T you at least learn how to write better next time? Just a side note that's all, no hard feeling alright.
