Okay, first of all I would suggest you check at the first few post that are at the very top of this forum. They are in BOLD headings. In there is tons of information about modding and backing up games.

To help you out with your problem:

You do not need a mod-chip to simply burn and backup a game. All you need is your computer and a DVD-Burner.

You do however need a mod-chip to be able to play the actual backups on your PS2. A mod-chip and Swap Magic discs are used directly with your PS2 console to enable it to play burned games.

Like I said, check the top of this forum for more information on the burning process and the types of capatible media. Good luck

There are tons of websites out there that sell modchips and Swap Magic discs.

I don't know if we're allowed to post up links to websites selling these items. But do a search on goole and I'm sure you'll get a ton of hits. Also Ebay might be a good place to try

1st off depending on what ver of PS2 you have depends on what type of Mod you'll need...

If you have an older Fat PS2 you'll need either a Slide Card or a Fliptop along with the Swapmagic Discs or a modchip...

http://www.clearxbox.com is where I got my fliptop & Swapmagic Discs

if you're using a newer SLIM PS2 you'll need tools or some of the newer mods to go with your swapmagic discs
