Downloading stuff of the internet (i'm assuming you mean warez sites and the like) is extremely risky, not only because of virusses and such, but also because peerguardian doesn't safeguard you from snoops on those kind of sites. So my advice : stay away from that kind of thing, and if you really MUST download something, do it through bittorrent, while using peerguardian.
Cause in the case of using BT, the chance of getting caught would be like 2% or something, and you could minimize that chance to 0% by using proxy's, tor, etc.
My apoligies, i figured since im on the p2p forum that everybody would know what i was talking abut when i meant download. I dont upload anything, and i thought that thats what the companies were going after people that upload alot of material. I always here about how people are getting sued, so i was just wondering if the ISP would turn people in.
Unless they can prove that you have done anything wrong (in court), there's no way they can get a court order that they need to get your info from your isp, so peerguardian is your best friend
I think your chances of getting caught downloading (or uploading) are probably way less then the chance that you're going to get hit by a vehicle on your way to work or school tomorrow morn.
