Help!!! Download speeds are really slow

Hey, I am haveing some serious problems lately. When i try and download music or movie from limewire or bitsoup.com using azureus they are downloading at a very slow rate. I recently hooked up another computer to my connection using a wireless DLink router so i thought that that may be the problem but then i hooked my computer up straight to the modem and still getting speed's on average of 10 kb/s. i used to get speeds of 150 - 350 kb/s so you can see why this is troubling me. i dont know that much about computer's... just the basic's so if somebody has time to help me then it would be much appreciated
