hi guys,
i need to burn a few ps2 games,
i'm using +r discs and iv done some research on whether i can booktype with my pioneer dvr-110 , anyway i cant booktype +r disks so does anybody know of any hacked firmware that can enable me to do so.
Thanx allot and please reply soon
i have no -r disks but will get some later on, anyway i just need to know frm where can i download a patched/hacked firmware for my pioneer 110 to enable booktyping
you cant, Pioneer drives are going to book type them as DVD+R when burnt. both my 105 and 110D do this and they work fine on all but pre V4 consoles. the comment that booktyping is not necessary is a bit uninformative, you have to booktype a disk or it's useless, just your burner is going to auto bootype the +R disks to +R. as long as your console is a V4 or later it will read the +Rs and in most cases the +R is more likely to be compatible.
well the only thing i can add is give it a try and see if they work. The booktyping (bitsetting) the +R disc to DVD-Rom is what people do to get the disc to be more compatible for playing on the PS2, as a nomal original disc is DVD-Rom. I have had very little luc with +R discs. I have used several brnads i had for movies, and none of them worked well at all for games. Some people love them, i hate them.
I tried both PS2 and Xbox games on 2 different types of +R discs,
TDK & Philips, and neither worked well. The game would play some times but would have glitchy audio/video problems.
I much prefer the -R discs, i used the same brand and speed -R disc as the +R disc and the -R worked every time.
Now that just my be what my burner and PS2 and Xbox like the best and do the best job writing to and reading from.
sorry i shold have explained deeper (sarcastic)
I WANT TO BOOKTYPE THEM TO DVD ROM
and i know that their is a patched/hacked firmware out there, but i dont knoew where, all i want is for somebody to point me in the right direction. I tried forums.rpc1 but i dont think they have it
Thanks for the reply anyway
somebody please help soon
@KC- i think you misunderstood what i said. anyhow, wat imeant was that the ps2 can read +R as well, if its v4 onward. so my suggestion was that even if they are not book-typed, they might work. on the contrary your statement is more factually incorrect:
Quote:you have to booktype a disk or it's useless
don't get me wrong, i ain't picking on you. just clarifying my stand.
coz loads of ppl have got the +R to work without book-typing.and that is wat i suggested to this guy.
if the disk is finalized it's booktyped. the Pioneer drives just do not allow you to select the booktype, other drives like BenQ and LiteOn do. you take one of your 'non booktyped' disks and check it with an identifier it will show you the type booktype that was burned in. without any form of booktype the reader would not know where the data is at on the disk, this is why you have to booktype a disk in the first place. you booktype a DL as a single layer and you'll only ever read off the first layer.
for the original poster www.rpc1.org is your best bet for hacked firmware, but it's not recommended.
sorry, i forgot to mention that i had already tried to burn the same game twice at 4x with diff appz and with upgraded firmware, but neither worked even with riteks(black screen at start) so that is why i am wanting to bookype before i go and by some new media
sorry for any misunderstanding, all i wanted to know was where can i get a patched firmware from
Thanxs anyway
