Hi,

I have a Nvidia MX440 graphics card with 128MB DDR and 8x agp support. Until recently I had drivers ver 56.72 and my XP sp2 system worked fine. But, when I got the game "The Movies" had to update my drivers. So I did with the latest drivers ver 81.98. But now my system frequently gives me a blue screen and restarts.

When I googled this problem, I found out that other people also have this problem with MX 440 and the latest drivers on XP. So now I know that one solution for this problem is rolling back my drivers. But I can't go for that since I have to play this game.

Please help me.

I am not an expert when it comes to fully understanding video drivers, but experience has taught me that even though driver update information files say that they support older cards, and run well with older cards are two different things.

Support so that the card runs is one thing, but quality settings in newer versions to support the functions of newer technology doesn't always work well with older cards, because the technology isn't present in them. I have nvidia cards ranging from the MX400 to the 6800GS, and when some games would run well with one driver version, crapped out using a newer or, different one. (for instance, with my cards any driver version of the 60.xx series were the worst, and had the most problems with)

56.72 is a great version for the MX, and FX series cards. So is driver version 77.77. Which would be the version I'd recommend you trying for your MX440. To get it, simply run thru the menus on the driver download page, then when you get to the page to download the latest version, look down the options to the left. You will see a section for archived driver versions. There you will find driver version 77.77.

Hope that helps!

I already tried 77.77 Coz I read somebodys' post @ Lionheads' movies online forum recommending it. But it was no cure for my problem.

Actually, I tried many driver versions. The 60x drivers seemed stable but they give me that texture corruption in some dx9 games including The Movies.

When I use the latest drives they work perfect and graphics look nice and smooth but still they make my system crash.

What should I do? ...maybe I should buy a new card... I'm a geforce fan from the beginning, but these problems make me think about buying an ATI.

Well... I don't know...

-btw- Thanx for the beta drivers link. I'll give them a try and post the results...
