Hey guys.. bare with me as I'm getting very frustrated by this all..

So I have a copy of of an XVID MPEG4 movie that I want to get to dvd. Its at 23.9xxx fps and the audio is ac3.
I've looked through the guides here and have yet to get this to work properly.

I managed to do everything that the guide said, and in the end, I came out with a dvd that has an aspect ratio that is all wrong, and audio that drops out in the middle of the movie.

Now here is the kicker.. the original file that I have on my hard drive, now has no audio, and all I hear in the middle is a lot of static.. ?? This really pisses me off as now I have to get this file all over again. What happened to it? I used virtual dub mod to grab the ac3 file from it, and now it's all buggered up?!

Anyways, if anyone has any info they can give me I would be much obliged.

For extracting AC3 from avi's I would suggest AVIMuxGUI.

? Use TMPGEnc plus 2.5 that should do everythin you need it to do to transcode to dvd.

Use, Tmpg Author or Tsunami dvd author to do the authoring of the mpeg2(dvd files) to create the menu's etc, there's also an option to re-encode the audio inside these app's if your not happy with them.

Hey guys..

Yes, I did use TMPGEnc plus to do all of this, yet when I watch the dvd that it did, the aspect ratio is off..

the image stretches from top to bottom of screen. The width is fine, but the height has gone from a regular dvd movie *black on top and bottom* to stretching out to the full screen, making everything narrow.
Also, the audio drops out halfway through for some weird reason.

I'm now experiencing problems with all of my movies that contain AC3 audio.. whenever I play them even on my computer, I just here a bunch of static.

During the actual multiplexing process, there was an error about halfway through.. something about the audio. And about halfway through the movie is when the audio cuts out, so obviously something happened.

I'll try your guys' suggestions about AC3, but I dunno what to do about the video :(

You need to alter the aspect ratio from which you first encoded the .AVI file.

Search for Tmpg Enc help or Aspect ratios to use with the various file dimensions, use goolge there's a load of different places to search get help.
