Hi. When I type ipconfig into the command prompt, i get my IP as 192.168.1.5. I have a wireless D-Link G604-T and I am experiencing very slow download rates for Bitcomet. My question is "Do I need to configure a static IP address for my computer?" Is the IP address i get static or dynamic? Is the ip address i get in relation to the router or internet? How do I fix a static IP in relation to teh internet through a router?
I have looked everywhere and been unsuccessfull in finding teh information i would like. I hope one of you could help...
Thanks,
Tom

ok

1. go to the ip config thing
2. find your gatway ip
3. type your gatway ip in the internet explorer adreess bar and hit enter( or what ever internet thing your useing.
4. http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1005&question=port+...
5. follow those steps
6. make your bittorent port 53000

your speeds should increase.

thanks, but ive port forwarded... that has made no real difference in speed... i think there must be a problem with my computer because teh speeds are just as slow without my router and with a modem instead...
Ive done a virus check, used teh tcpip.sys patch and everything i can think of. Ive tried with static and dynamic ip addresses... no difference.
Im really struggling now...
Any ideas?
