Tried to search for the answer, but when backing up a PS2 game, how come theres no sound?
I own the orig. Fliptop, swpmg3.
Orig has sound when playing, backup doesnt.
Backed up using decrypter. Plays fine.

Any suggestions or is this not supposed to have sound?

OK, take Socom 3. The original plays background music. The backup doesnt.
I just backed up Starwars 1. The orig plays music when loading, and when playing. The backup doesnt. It does play the shooting sounds, but no "music".

I use simple decrypt. read....then find the iso and then write.
The question i have is when you decrypta game, it puts 2 files ion the folder. you can only open 1, the iso file. Thats the one i open and write to disc.

Did that make sense?
thanks again.

Check your wiring. Make sure you don't have a lose A/V cable.

I dont think thats it. Because on 2 backups its the same thing.

The orig sounds fine, the backups have no background music or sound while loading.
Once again, the sound effects are fine, but no background music.

Like in Socom, while its going through the pre mission scrrens, theres music playing. But on the backup nothing. ITS SILENT.

As soon as I put the orig back in, sound is fine.

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Thanks again. I usually run what backs up my movies the best. And sad to say they are memorex. I have over 1,000 backups and maybe 2 or 3 coasters. So I stick with them.
I also understand they use different media all the time.
This batch was cmc mag. From what i see here, junk for ps2. But for some reason, great for my movie backups.
flawless burns. (lite-on burner).

I have tried TY's and personally did not like them for movies. In 100 burns, i had quite a few that skip, freeze, and other problems.

So my new question would be, does it make a difference between movies and games? If it works with movies, shouldnt it work with games?

thanks again.

if your watching your movies on standalone dvd player they have a far better laser for reading movies so just about all media types will work but the ps2 laser is alot more picky.i use Verbatim DVD+R 8X and burn them at 4X then booktype them to dvd-rom never had a problem. So its either your media or the image files your trying to burn. Also try Nero i find it alot better to use than DVD Decrypter.

thanks.
IM going to 'search for some deals on TY's and verb today, and experiment. I have had alot of success backing up movies and am new to ps2's.

and now I have to go research "booktype to dvd-rom", and try that.
I do have Nero, but never tried.

well booktyping isnt a must but if your ps2 isnt fussy about reading DVD+R and your burner can bookmark id say it gives far better results than with DVD-R which most people on this forum use.

yes correct most people who use good quality DVD-R never usually run into problems and all ps2's will read them well but when i use -R with my slimline it heats up like an oven in the space of 30 mins for some strange reason yet when using +R i can leave my ps2 on for as long as 13 hours with no probz.
