Your system is probably riddled with Spyware and Virsus.

How about providing some information as to your system e.g. OS, RAM, HD size, HD free space etc.

Also some info as to Spyware and Virus programs being used and update frequency.

DVD burns should always take less than 15 minutes.

Sounds like you have major problems - more info required.

1, use your xp disc to do a repair
insert disc
restart computer
boot from xp disc
choose recovery console
choose o/s (this is normally 1 )
press enter for admin
(if it fails here you have a locked system contact manufacturer for help)
assuming you get this far
type chkdsk /r
press enter
it will now scan your system files and replace corrupted ones

with ref to burning discs
to avoid coasters burn to image and test in deamon tools before using a real disc

Dont do a repair, repairs are gay just do a format and reinstall. Repairing will just make your problems worse.

your games and programs wont work after a repair. Back up anything you dont want to lose. If games and programs worked after a repair then it would be worth doing it but they dont.

honestly man whats the point of a repair, please im not dissing at all. I want to know the point of it? Because i just dont see one. When a format would take just as about the same amount of time and your much better off.
Example: A self replicating virus its attached it self to a file not in the windows directory, but the purpose of the virus is to attack the windows directory as soon as you do the repair the virus is still sitting there and once windows has been reinstalled the virus latches back on to windows. Because there are many viruses out there that anti-virus software cant just delete and get rid of. Now most users of this forum would know how to rid there system of this, but alot of windows users arent apart of this forum so theyve just gone to format and seen the "repair" option and thought cool ill do that landing themselves back into the problem they had before. And then after that theyve gone to do a format and reinstall. The End :-)
