computer will no recognized a DVD

I record a TV show using my DVD recorder (non computer DVD recorder) and try to copy it using my computer DVD burner, but the computer will no recognized the DVD format?
What should I do about this problem?
Please note the DVD players on my DVD recorder connect to my TV.

Do you get an error or is the issue no playback on the pc?
Make sure you finalized the dvd on your recorder for -/+ formats. I would also make sure your burner's firmware is up to date. I've only copied 1 recorded from a dvd recorder so I'm no expert but even though my pc didn't recognize it for playback I was able to rip and burn it w/ DVD Decrypter in iso mode. The new copy played in pc and other standalones.

binkie7 is correct...I've done a lot of my old tape on my DVD recorder a Sony. You MUST finalize the disk at the end. This makes the disk so that other players will reconize it, including computers. If you don't finalize your disks, only your DVD Player/Recorder will be able to play it. If you put the disks you just recorded back in you recorder you can still finalize them, you don't need to record them again. You can then put them in your computer and make your copies, It should work.
