I have been having a very strange problem burning my ISOs in DVD Decrypter. I have had no problems using DVD Shrink to turn all the DVDs into ISOs, but then things get weird. For some ISOs, burning them in DVD Decrypter goes smoothly and everything works. But for some others, I keep getting errors like this at the same exact place in each file:
E 21:52:47 Failed to read from file: MARCH_OF_THE_PENGUINS.ISO
E 21:52:47 Reason: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Does anyone out there know why this happens with some ISOs and not others/how I can fix it? Thanks a lot.

What media are you using? That could make a difference.

What type of DVD's (media) are you trying to burn to?
This may not be the case since it sounds like the file is already on your computer and it saids it can't read it. I thought that a CRC error was usually when trying to read or write to a dvd when the dvd was scratched or needed cleaning or bad media?
What speeds are you burning at? Try not to burn at more than 4X.
What type of burner do you have and do you have the latest firmware?
Do you have anti-virus software running when encoding or burning? That also can cause issues. Answer some of these questions, and we'll narrow it down.

I have been using standard memorex DVD-R discs, all brand new, and like i said it has been working for some files and not others, so it doesnt seem like the problem is with the media. i was burning at max and then at 8x, so im going to go off and try 4x right now and see if that makes things improve. i know that my firmware is up to date and that i have a mcafee anti-virus program running, but why it would be screwing up some files and not others doesnt make sense to me. i operate off an internal burner on my toshiba laptop.

Sorry to say that memorex can be a hit and miss. If you run dvdidentifier (free) on it, and the media code comes up CMC, than the media you are burning to could be your problem. Memorex is known to cause this error. Sometimes you can get a burn that will read, and sometimes you won't. Since you already have the memorex, I would try to burn at 4X first and see if that solves the issue. However I would switch media too. You can find high quality media for the same price as those memorex. SONY, Maxell, Fuji (Made in Japan), Verbatim, and TY's just to name a few. You'll ofeten see those on sale for $12.99-$14.99 (50 pack) at best buy, office depot, staples, etc. on any given week.

Let me know what Identifier saids about the Fuji.
Also what burner are you using?
Let's make sure I've got everything straight. You already have an ISO created from shrink on your computer and are trying to burn it to DVD with DVD Decryptor? You have gotten some to work, but not others? Could you let me know what the settings were in Shrink for your output? Should be somthing like 4300-4464 range.

dcs9986,
I have never had worse media than Memorex DVD-R DVD disks!!!!!!! I know you tried Fuji or better media. I have burned both your movies with no problems. If your media is ok, then your rip from the original to your hard drive as an iso file is corrupted. TRy opening your iso to a different directory on your hard drive and then try to play the movie from the new directory. Click the first *.ifo file and the movie should play if the iso was created originally without flaws by DVD Shrink. If not, then your crc error or flaw lies in the creation initially of your iso file. If this is the case, try doing it again. Also make sure the original March of the Penguins disk is clean, without scratches or other junk on its surface. Clean it with Windex or a cd - dvd disk cleaning solution and a lint free cloth before ripping to your hard drive with DVD Shrink. After the new iso is created from your clean original, try burning to a new Dvd disk. If this fails again, try openig the iso in a new directory again on your hard drive and playing by double clicking the first numbered *.ifo again. If this plays now, then your problem was a dirty original movie disk that you cleaned and corrected by the cleaning. Then burn to a new dvd blank disk and if this fails, your dvd media is dirty or bad . Try cleaning it the same way as above with Windex, etc., before burning. If this fails again, use a better disk and/ or a different burning program to burn the hard drive iso to your blank dvd. I'm assuming that your original March of the penguins plays in your Dvd drive to start with!!!

dcs9986 - something I just thought of that can also cause this error. You're not doing anything else on the computer while running through Shrink or Decyptor are you? This will also lead to bad burns. Start your encoding process and walk away. Same with when burning. Never multitask when burning.

Quote: Issue:
Cyclic Redundancy Check or CRC error
Cause:
This error message could be generated by any of the below reasons.
During the transmission of the file it became corrupt or bad
The file was sent inappropriately
The device being opened from is bad or contains errors
The file itself is bad or the program attempting to open the file is bad
File is bad or program attempting to open the file is bad
Solution:
Finally, if the file is being opened from the hard disk drive or other media, it is likely that the file is corrupted or the program opening the file is corrupted.
Download the file again.
Reinstall the program being used to open the file
Attempt to open with a different program
If the file is on the hard disk drive, run scandisk / defrag
Assume the file is bad and cannot be recovered [
If changing to a good media doesn't work, try reinsatlling Shrink and DVD Decrypter(very painless operation:~)!) and you might want to try making another ISO.
