Hello, thank you in advance for your help boys. Here is this Chix Problem. I'm using vision express 3 to burn torrents opened and converted to avi and sometimes run through dvx, onto a DVD. I have tried several different companies DVDs and Right now I'm using Maxell 8x 4.7. no matter which I use I get a successful burn, but the Burn physically is barley visible and acts as such. The DVDs almost always have difficulty q-ing up in my DVD players, 4 different ones... and If they do play they are likely to stop, freeze and sit trying to re-Find the area they where Just at. So they skip over parts, go back to the beginning, etc. This is with all different types of media, two different burners, and the system set at 1x burn speed.
For the Life of me I cannot find this log file you all request, Ill keep looking.
My burner is a Sony dw-D18A which they have no firmware for from what I can see. But again this is my second burner, the first acted the same way.
the DVDs look untouched when they are done and ANY tiny finger blemish or dust renders them unusable.
Now off to look for that Log File while you Brilliant minds Cure My delema.
Thanks Boys

Sorry hun, Not a guy here :)
1st. Edit your post to remove all instances of your serial number (dishonest people will steal it to use your program if they can).
2nd remove InCD (that was the problem I had with nero 6).
Make sure to use the incd tool (found here http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html ) to remove it completely.
Try again, and we'll see if ya need more info after that.
Reality is an illusion and subject to interpretation.

Someone stealing your key could make YOUR version not work, the next time you needed to upgrade you would probably get an error message like this, and here is what Nero says to do:
Quote: 20. After launching Nero I get the error message 'This may be a pirated version of Nero'. What does this mean?
This message occurs if more than one customer has registered the same serial key.
To resolve, please send us an e-mail (sales@nero.com) which includes your name, address, e-mail, your Nero serial number and a proof of purchase.
Our sales team will confirm your valid purchase and provide you another serial number for replacement.
So your own version would not work, until you got it fixed by emailing, and who knows how long they will take to read/get back to you??
You didn't leave the log up for me to look at it, but INCD is a big problem for Nero and as FireKat said, it needs to be removed.
Nero log file locations:
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt
Please do not post the vision express log, as it is a pain to look thru, throws this page formatting off so that you have to scroll to read the stupid thing,, and doesn't report as much as the history log does. wheh, took longer to explain that one, but thats the reason i hate vision logs..

I'm getting it now. I think I found all the copies of my serial # and removed them, If not, Let me know. Here is the log lady and Gents. I'm still having burning problems despite The removal of IN-CD. So Whats next? Clue #2 for you Pros, After trying to burn another DVD after the removal of IN-CD, The newest disk took 4 tried to Que up in three of my players, including the xbox. Also when it did glitch, it froze EXACTLY where the previous disk had. So I burned a different file One that I knew was a good formated file, and that too froze up.
I have no real pattern to successful burning. I must say with all the factors involved and how compressed the Information is, and knowing how that little laser is trying to engrave its info on that fast spinning media, its a miracle that Any of them work. But It would be nice to get a handle on why you can make ten in a row that are flawless, and then have the next five be unusable.
I am a troubleshooter for an automaker, and this Hobie really leaves me feeling Humbled. I too try and eliminate the x factor in my line of work, usually this perminantly alleviates a symptom. Not so in the world Of DVD burning.
Thanks again in advance for your kindness and help folks,
PittChiq

ok hun, the next step is to dl and run a few tools (do not use the clean tools [except driver clean tool] unless you want to uninstall something). Make sure you dl and run the registry checker to make sure there are no errors that can be solved simply by running the tools.
Nero tools can be downloaded here ( http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Utilities.html ).
The nero tools could fix it.
I am still in the proccess of fixing my Nero 7 but have successfully fixed my Nero 6. My desktop is burning a movie right now, but I'll get more info on the dl's you may need when it's done (or tomorrow if I go back to bed before it's done (have to be up early to get my daughter off to school).

That is strange that they all show burned successful in the logs. Maybe your power supply in the CPU is overtaxed and not supplying enough voltage to the laser. I have heard that one before, and most of the time it is not true, but sometimes you can have a problem with a power supply and that would affect both burners. Just a stab in the dark. A quick check of the log, and i didnt see anything jump out at me.
These errors seem to indicate something was done incorrectly in one of your file coversion steps
Quote: Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)
Sense Code: 0x24
and that code comes out as Quote: Invalid field in CDB
which leads me to belive there was something wrong in the file conversion, and i dont covert torrents, so i wont be of much help there. They show up in most of your burn logs.
Also check your system aspi layers with Nero info tool. They should report back as being installed and working properly. Your log didn't show them as being bad, but it is worth checking.
You should see something like this on your info tool:
And just to eliminate media as the problem try a Verbatim or a Taiyo Yuden disc. The Tys are found under Sony, Maxell, Fuji, labels ONLY if you find made in japan on the spindle. Anything less, and you could still be having a media issue.
Most of the burns in the log were at 8x, and you should stick with 4x burns as that is the speed most burners and systems handle best. If you still get light burns, and problems using GOOD media, then you may have either very dirty lasers, or weak power going to them. Unless you like taking a multi-meter to your power supply to check the output voltage, the best way to fix those problems is to replace the power supply. But try the GOOD media test first at 4x burn. Your memory was a little bit low, so make sure you shut down everything not needed when burning, and shut down any anti-virus/firewall/net connection, etc..

MM.. although I agree that that the Power supply prob would be a one in a million shot, It is a crappy dell machine, and It is taxed with about six eight usb devices, 3 hard drives plus an external, and my network usb antenna. so Out comes the volt meter. but I will try the Japanese disks and unplugging everything including the hd's.
Need a better Media picking lesson. If your at the local store and the spindle is in wrapping, how do I know which to pick??? Where exactly are they marked? besides made in Japan, does that Brand actually exist as a stand alone?
thanks

As far as media on the brands i listed country of origin, is usually right next to the bar code on most of them. On others you have to look, but it is on the package somewhere. The only sure way to get Taiyo Yudens is to order them online. I get my online media from http://www.supermediastore.com . They carry genuine Taiyo Yudens.
To see if the power supply is loaded down too much, disconnect as many of those devices you listed as you can, and see if that makes a difference. You can plug them back in after the burn. Take as much of the load off the power supply as you can by removing extra devices.
Yes, this kind of problem is rare as you either have enough power, or you dont. Usually if you don't have enough power, the thing doesn't work at all. You could probably test voltage on a spare device power lead while it is running, if you have any spares left in the computer case.
Try the better discs first. If you want to try a GOOD disc, and dont want to try to find the Taiyo Yudens, just buy a Verbatim , and made in taiwan is OK for Verbs.
If you are in the states, best buy just had these on sale for 15 per 50, but that was last weeks sale.

OK I'm very stumped. Here's what I have done. First I disconnected everything from my burning computer, every extra, then I defragmented the one standing HD. I then tried burning both the maxell Media I have, and the the brandy new stack of Asian verbatim's I went out and bought. Still a very shallow and unreadable burn. So I then Removed the 400w power supply and exchange it with a huge one a friend loaned me. Nothing has changed. I still had one successful DVD, and 3 coasters. my par.

I want to thank you for the links and dl's. I want to thank you all. But nothing Seems to make a difinitive difference. I mean there have been dvd's that work like a store bought, sure. Even three and five in a row. But then Crash pow, same problem. And Whats funny is I see other people claiming the exact same Problem on two other sites. My friend who had< key word, says all was fixed using Nero 7. I have it. But I am cautious to insatall because more people have retreated from seven back to six then they did during battles against british Rule. I don't have much to loose. I have been making and burning media since the very first Cd's. I love the Idea. I just think in this day and age, with 4oo,000,0000,x over that we should have an almost fail safe program that makes a DVD and CD without Sweating and crossing your fingers and voodoo etc.

I agree, backing up DVDs should be as easy as ripping a CD, but it isnt for a number of reasons. The good news is the latest version of Nero 7 is not buggy now. I waited for 2 version 7 revisions to pass before i updated. With Nero updates, its always good to come here and check the Nero forum to see if ppl are having problems before you update. I also save the old install packages of Nero as a just in case thing. (call me paranoid, but with Nero it pays to be paranoid) Give 7 a try, as you say, you have nothing to loose.
If one day you have a spare 40-80 bucks, you could buy a new burner and see if that helps. But thats a "cost you money" option, and i try to avoid suggesting that unless you really need a new burner.

Thats whats bugging me, I tried not only changing burners, I tried changing hard drives!~ I fig maybe With all my firewalls and blockers, virus repairs etc, that maybe I was missing something, or an old virus had a dll or two in there messing me up, or something needed was deleted as infected. So i pulled the Hd and Tried another one with a fresh xp professional install. same thing, coaster...
Ok I shall try the seven. thanks

@PittChiq,
Looking at that last burn log, INCD was removed. Did you use a clean tool, or just un-install?
You can run the clean tool and it will find any hidden INCD stuff on your system:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html
Just a stab in the dark, but i am running out of ideas for you. Maybe the Nero7 update will work.
And you already checked you system aspi files with nero infotool? Thats the only other thing i could think of, and you didnt reply back if you checked that.
I also edited the online link to media. I keep getting supermedia.com mixed up with the real supermediastore.com. Sorry about that.

Hello, Just wanted to give you a heads up on my mystery. I installed Nero 7 and have had no problems since. My only standing issue is that the Hp invent gold R+ disks that where on sale at staples still are not recognized on my player. They do work on others players though. Not a Coaster to be spoken of. So thanks Max, FireKat, and especially whompus for the very hard to find firmware. Well I'm off to make movies! thanks. again,
Kisses,
