Ok, what I have, I have a japanese game, a NTSC (USA) ps2, a slide card and swap magic, dvd burner, all the capabilities to get past DNAS that I know of. Heres what I want: a way to back up this japanese dvd ps2 game so that it will work with my slide card ONLINE. The online is the important part. And a way to actually boot it. I know that the slide card can boot ORIGINAL japanese imports, and backed up USA games, but I don't know about putting them together, japanese backups to work on a ntsc system.
The game is Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (the new one) disc one and two.
MANY THANKS AND HELP WOULD BE GREATLY GREATLY GREATLY APPRICIATED!!!!

You can't play an NTSC-Jap game on an NTSC-US PS2 without changing the Console ID of the Machine. Any attempts to do will give you a DNA's error 832, region error. If you did change the Console ID to NTSC-Jap, then you could only play NTSC Jap games online. Paradox's console ID changer only works with v.1-8 PS2's. In short, it's a complete waste of time.

From PS2nfo's DNA's error guide.
DNA's error-832 Unregistered title ID. Incorrect title ID in SYSTEM.CNF. Using the wrong regional DNAS library, thus talking to the wrong DNAS server. Using the production server (debug=0) without DNS redirection.

Just wanted to add that a JAP *back-up* should work (offline), I have a PAL PS2 and I've used back-ups of NTSC games plenty of times.

I'm using a chip, but if you're slider allows you to play imports, and back-ups, it would be reasonable to think that a back-up import should work.

Well yeah he can play the game offline fine if he's got a chip or Swap Magic, but he won't be able to play a game from another region online with an NTSC-US PS2. I should've clarified that.

Hi everyone, thanks for the info, but the only thing is I can't play the game even offline, it is Metal Gear Solid Subsistence (the snake eater expansion I don't know if you are familiar with it) and there are three discs, two of which are of any interest (the third is all the cinematics) one of which (the second one) is ONLY for online play. If I could get my backup of that working I would be a very happy camper but even if I could get the backup of the first disc working for offline that would be pretty sweet to say the least. And that changing the console ID could someone tell me a little more about that? how do I do it and what does it effectively do??

Many thanks,

No. NTSC-Jap and NTSC-US are different regions. That's why you can't play the game online. NTSC refers to video format, US and Jap refers to region. What's the Media ID of the discs you're using? Messing around with the Console ID Changer is waste of time. Read why for yourself.

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

105. Q. How do I play PS2 games from another region online on my region PS2?
A. The short answer is you can't. The long answer is you can, but it's a pain in the arse. First you'd need to download Paradox's Console ID Changer: http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=online.html
Then you'd need to find a vaild PS2/ilink ID for the region you wish to play online games with. These ID's are hard to come by, if any online servers detect multiple Console ID's online at the same time, you will be banned permanently. This isn't like getting kicked off for an hour because of cheating or using a modchip, this is for good. Once your Console ID is banned, you're history unless you change it with Paradox's ID Console ID Changer. So you'd have to have a vaild PS2/ilink Console ID from the desired region. Nobody in their right mind will give you their Console ID. Don't ask for them either, that violates every piracy law known to man. Look around the net, but don't expect Sony to be so stupid as to allow a Console ID on a board somewhere to be widely used. They didn't get that rich and powerful by being that idiotic. Likely any such ID's you find will have long since been banned. Further once you switch your Console ID to the desired region, you will only be able to play online games from that region. I.E. If you want to play PAL games online on an NTSC-US PS2, you can only do so if you change your PS2 Console/ilink ID to a vaild PAL Console/ilink ID. Then you'll be able to play PAL games online. But you would no longer be able to play NTSC-US games online. Furthermore, Paradox's Console ID Changer only works on v.1-8 PS2's. So if you have a slim, forget about it. See how long this question is. In the end, it's a waste of time to mess around with changing your PS2 Console ID.

Okay so if there is NO WAY I can play the japanese import/backup game online, then how do I play it offline? I tried the usual way of just putting it onto another dvd with DVD Decrypter and booting it like I would any game with the slide card but no go, it looks like it will work because the edges of the screen that says 'please insert disc' goes blue (meaning it's working) but then the screen just goes black.... and stays black.... for a very... very... long time. (until I'm tired of waiting and turn off the ps2 haha.

Please help me out

Again sounds like a crap media issue. Read my previous post about Media ID.

But your last post only talks about being able to play the games online, he wants to play his game offline, as do i. I burned the game naruto Narutimmet hero 3 jap version. I did the ususal slidecard method and it didnt work. I alos dont understand why it wont play, i burned the PAL version of soul calibur 3 and it works perfectly.

famous quotes.... well not really

Then read a little. Do you think I go on and on about quality media and Media ID because I enjoy hearing myself type? Read that post again, download DVD Identifier and post the results. This more than likely a cheap media issue.
