I recently changed the drivers for mt Ati Radeon 9800se to the soft modded ones.

After this every time I booted up my pc the screen resolution changed from 1027x768 to 800x600. This was a real pain in the ass so I reverted back to the latest catalyist drivers offered by ATI (which I had before changing to the soft mod drivers).

However every time I boot up the screen reverts to 800x600. After I uninstalled the soft mod I ran a registery cleaner and my pc is clean from spy/mal/adware and virus. Anyone know whats wrong?

Any knowledgeable people out there who know how I can maintain the one screen resolution please, I know its not going to kill my machine but it is very annoying!

Already tried that and ran a registery cleaner to make sure all traces were gone.

in that case try doing a system restore to when it was working

Good idea on the restore, never thought of it. If I restore to an earlier date will it effect any downloading that I may or may not be doing ;) ?

If you right click on your default desktop and go to properties then enter into the settings tab where you can chamge the resolution. If that doesn't work further down in the settings tab there is an advanced icon that will take you to "Default Monitor" and whatever ever GPU you have in there you can also change the resolution from the source.

Thanks for the reply pokey5, I had already tried there to, but all is not lost. We had a power out last night and when I booted up again, as if by magic all was back to normal. I would love to know what was wrong and how it seems to have been sorted by a power failure but there you go!!
