First of all, I'd like to start out by saying that I appreciate anyone who answers this question, I know what it's like to have a bunch of noobs asking you all these stupid questions, but I myself have run into that situation after finally getting into the torrent scene. Anyway, I posted a while ago on here that I was wondering how a dialup user like myself (I know, dialup sucks...) would be able to acheive download speeds that of a DSL or cable user. Well, the reply was to use bittorrent files; so, I was wondering if this guy was truly right..........does it make even dialup users acheive dl speeds of 100 kbs/sec and beyond when using torrents?
Also, I just started to download the Saw 2 DVD, and I got the torrent file and put it into UTorrent; and got around 16 peers; only my DL speed was terribly slow, around an avg. of 1 kb/s. Now, I was wondering if when you get peers connected, do they share their bandwith with my crappy 56k connnection in order to speed up the DL from about 56 hours to about 3 hours?? Once again, thanx to all adv. AD users and keep up the good work, you've taught me a lot.

I'm sorry to say this, but there is no way on earth that it will ever happen. The max I ever got on dial-up was 7kb/s on a great seed. Otherwise it was generally 2/3kb/second.

Basically, I wouldn't build up your hopes.

-Do you have a firewall installed into your PC? if so, is it active..?

I'd say go for a torrent with high seeds and a low amount of leechers. I know it isn't always possible, but there isn't a lot you can do with dial-up. The alternative is to get cable or dsl.. (I would highly recommend it.. ;-)

Well............I would have to disagree with you on the slow DL speed thing you said about the max being 7 kb/sec...........I used to have a prog. called Shareaza, and I got about 45 kb/sec max. DL speed on there.

Were u two not talking about BitTorrent?. b/c Lethal was.

Shareaza is not BitTorrent, two totally different things. All Shareaza, limewire, winmx ect are good for are single songs, the only person around here who uses limewire is my gf :P

No sig for u!.

Well.....facts (aswell as logic) state otherwise. If you read this, it will tell you that you need at least a 512k connection to reach a download transfer rate of 45kb/s... And an even better connection for 100kb/s...
