I am looking at purchasing AnyDVD because I have ready many threads that say good things about this little program. My only reservation is with CloneDVD. From what I gather I can use AnyDVD with DVDShrink and make excellent backups. But with DVDShrink no longer being updated and CloneDVD is regularly, would it be wise to invest a bit more and purchase CloneDVD as well, your thoughts please...

The author of Shrink now works for Nero. Nero Recode2 works like shrink but is faster, and is updated. It is often included w2en you buy a burner. Works real well with AnyDVD too!

Although AnyDVD works well with many programs , it works best with CloneDVD 2. Elby and Slysoft work hand in hand to make sure the 2 programs are compatible. In many cases those 2 programs will work when other AnyDVD combos may error out or have glitches. And as stated they are always updated very fast if needed.

I have never had a problem with AnyDVD/Shrink or with AnyDVD/Nero Recode2. If you already have Nero, try ot. Can always buy Clone later if necessary.

I have Nero 6, latest version 6.6.1.4, AnyDVD, CloneDVD 2. I have used Recode with AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2. Hands down, CloneDVD 2 works better than ANY other back-up software available. Combined with AnyDVD it is the best, most worry free solution available anywhere.
Slysoft Rocks!

Might be better for some, but if you already have Recode2, Clone is a very similar product that carries an aditional purchase. To each his own. Depends on finances as well as need.

I remain loyal to Shrink and Decryptor! I always try it first (since I know it best) but I always have backup plans if it can't do the job (because it's no longer updated). I have Nero 7, CloneDVD, Vobblanker, DVDfab platinum and one more that I forget.

AnyDVD is best money I ever spent on software. No contest. I like Nero Recode because I've had it for years. If it ever stops working then I'll buy Clone DVD. "If it's not broke don't fix it"

from one that has all three programs(clonedvd2,shrink and recode2), i would have to give my vote to Recode2 because its quality output is as good as that of shrink(the best transcoder in term of quality until Recode2 came along)and faster than shrink. might be just my opinion but recode2 and shrink beat clonedvd2 in quality, just a little.
PS: doesn't hurt to have them all three but, if you don't want to spend the $$$ or can't spend it, stay with shrink for although much slower than the other two, its quality can only be iqual, not beaten, at least noy yet.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I use CloneDVD and AnyDVD. They are both spot on programs very easy to use, I found Clone better than DVD Shrink, and I do a lot of reproduction.

@ Argg,
If you don't like AnyDVD, that is an opinion you are entitled to. As for myself, I consider it the BEST 39 bucks I ever spent on Software, Period. To say Quote: Screw AnyDVD
is a little obnoxious, but to each his or her own. I would Never say those words about any Software out there, even if I disliked it. It's a Respect thing. I Respect Afterdawn & ALL Members, I Respect Slysoft too.
That's all I can say except this:
When one has Respect they get Respect back.

If you already have Nero, Recode2 + AnyDVD are a great combination. Whatever the slight advantage some attribute to Clone, the additional cost of really a similar program isn't justified.

Yeah, I guess you can screw AnyDVD if you DON'T wanna have copies made easy. Yeah, yeah, I know there are RARE times when it can cause a conflict with other programs, but c'mon. It really is worth its weight in gold. You cannot go wrong with this.

I love my AnyDVD & CloneDvd2, they seem to rip through anything I throw at them. I have never got on with Nero recode, never seems to work. That's probably just me being incompetent though, as there are many who get great results with it.

Well, I'll throw my $.02 as well. I used to use Shrink and Decrypter in combination for the longest time, then I decided to try Recode2, well that settled it with me, particularly after running tests between the 2, Recode2 hands down in PQ. The only thing better is DvdREbuilder, and I only run that when I have 2-3 hours to spare.
My running combination, is DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker, then Recode2 to finish it off, and of course, AnyDVD in the background.
Cheers,
Rich

I seem to have the best luck with with either AnyDVD and clonedvd2 or AnyDVD and Nero recode2. I've burned quite a few with those combinations and the final result seems to be flawless everytime. I'm sure now that I said that I'm going start to have errors up the wazoo...LoL :)

I guess some people like to type STUPID posts just to see what they look like in print. Too bad the ones that do that usually don't know what they are talking about. Free programs are great if they work and as long and they are updated. I still put my money on AnyDVD and in my opinion it will be around long after many of the free programs will no longer exist. Just an opinion from past experience.

I hope this isn't to stupid of a question but,I use AnyDVD with all the usual free programs and it works perfectly.I am wondering about the Nero recode. Is it true discs burned with it will not play in a standalone DVD player? If this is true, what is its advantage over the other programs?
