I finally got my ps2 slim flip top, i read the instructions and know i installed it correctley. But when I put a game in and reset it it does not know the door is closed because the disc does not spin or anything like that (lens dosn't move either), and i know i didn't break anything because i put my original top back on and it worked fine. PLEASE HELP!

I read somewhere about it not jamming a sensor and its a manufacture defect, but i dont know where, someone please help me, thanks!

At the back of the ps2 is a hole for a stick on the ps2 lid to go into.. if the stick doesn't go into the hole properly then the disc break will still be on... I know this from doing my bro's ps2 slim... I think that's what sly was talking about.
Make sure that the lid is down firmly (the outer lid that is) put in the swap magic disc, wait for it to boot up, then put in your backup game and press x...

Also did you place the white magnetic spinner from your original cover into the flip top? It's the small white circular thing you saw near the laser housing. Even if the flip top came with one, it's important to use your original white spinner deal with the flip top.

Hey Tok, how's it going?

Just to let you know, you don't need the white disc thing for the ps2 slim models, it doesn't ahve one to begin with even... the slim has a much better fitting spindle for the discs to sit on, so if it wasn't for the ps2 slim having the disc break hole check thing etc then you'd be able to play backups without any mods to the case.

hey paddy,

i already made sure it was down firmly and i know the disc break was closed because that's why i though the problem might have been but it wasn't. Also the sensor on the bottom right is also cover and in all the way, so i don;t know what to do :(

Ok, so have you tried it with an original disc to see if that works?

I haven't actually got a slim myself, but have modded my bro's for him and didn't have any probs at all.. apart from the disc break thing sometimes not doing it's job because after the swap if you press down the inner lid firmly sometimes the stick would come out of the hole a bit and set off the disc break... so to solve that I just don't close the lid all the way on my bro's.. just close the lid, not click it into place..that solved it!!!
Another thing is to make sure the outer lid is firmly in place in the slots at the front of the ps2 and then I just use the inner lid all the time even for originals.

Are you using swap magic 3.6? or are you saying that it won't even boot originals?

When you swapped the fliptops, did you put everything back in the same place from the original onto the new fliptop... like where the tiny screws go there were metal strips that had to go there... that's what I did, put everything back in exactly the same place. I'm not sure but think therre might have been a sensor where one of the metal pieces went. Try doing it again from scratch and be careful and precise, don't rush it... that's when things go wrong!

good luck
